  1. So are we saying in simple cash terms its about 40% cheaper but the bigger picture is a better quality product?
  2. I've recently got into fun shooting with a Marlin 1894C and I can see its going ot get very expensive ammo wise. I keep being told and should load my own and ive seen starter kits for £500 which equates to about 1500 rounds of .357. Obviously I have to research how to do it properly and the starter kits seem to have everything you need including instructions but how much cheaper does it make your ammo? I just want to work out if its a path I need to walk with my .357 costing me £16.50 per 50 at the moment! Any re-loaders out there?
  3. Depending on the barrel size my pet dealer has the 17HMR in for £409 and £388 for the .22. Thats 20" barrels though!
  4. I've been lamping very successfully for bunnies on my permission. I bought the gun lamp with a red filter but never used it and the white light beam was fantastic and give me a perfectly illuminated shot. Just recently Ive noticed the bunnies being far more skittish and darting away if I dont take my shot within a few seconds. So I switched to the red filter. Immediately I noticed that the light was no where near as good and probably only good for up to 50 yards but the bunnies were definitely not as scared of it and stood still for longer. Does this sound about right in the grand scheme of lamping, am I using the right filters for bunnies? Any hints or tips appreciated!

    Wanted

I was going to have a tidy out and Ive got a skeet vest and a number of surplus to requirement slips varying from padded canvas to a leather lined one. The vest is a black browning cynergy one. Ive got no pics now but if any of thats of interest then PM me.
  6. Yep that seems the option for me. What about this Company though? Im always suspect about getting stuff shipped from the USA. I take it we have memebers that have used them and had good experiences?
  7. Ah now that looks like the perfect solution!! Dealextreme are US based though arent they? Just checked ebay and a few people are doing the mount torch and pressure switch all in!!! Excellent. Cool, thanks chaps!
  8. I owned one for about 8 months. It looked great, cycled faultlessly but the butt was way to short. I dont have a massive reach but I had to have the butt professionally extended and anyone else who shot with it struggled. All in all I liked the quality of the gun but I couldnt shoot it to save my life! Glad I owned it but I paid something like £1,500 new for it and traded it for a .22 CZ, bits of kit and a new Hatsan Escort FAC Auto. The Hatsan shoots better by a long way but has cycle issues. Its like a most guns, spending a fortune doesn't ensure a good gun or a good shot. If it fits you then yoou'll do the business with it. I reckon the stock is a massive design flaw with it and one that might not be too appaerent until youve actually shot with it. I didnt realise it just by mounting it in the shop!
  9. MMMM!!! Head lamp I'd ruled out largely because I'd feel a ****!!!!! lol However that link looks very interesting. Just a question of how big the diameter of the scope section is! I'll mail them and ask. Thanks for that mate!
  10. Now this question might sound strange but on my permission there are great areas for just wandering around and chancing on fleeing bunnies. It makes for a fun evening and a great sporting shot for a shotgun but the 12g is a little noisey and as the light fades the bunnies are even more plentiful but its a struggle to see them. So first I picked up a fully moderated .410 (Phantom) and then I started looking for a half decent light solution. Just something to give me a little illumination out to 25 yards or so. So far I havent been able to find a thing. The moderated barrel is quite thick but is light so I dont want to make it barrel heavy if I can avoid it. I thought there might be some kind of scope mounts available for say a maglite that I could reverse and hang under the barrel but I cant seem to find anything! The phantom is a single barrel gun. Anyone have any ideas or have tried anything similar? Cheers in advance
  11. I've got one just as a pigeon gun but then got it transferred to my FAC and converted to a 9 shot. I've had it 6 months. Its pretty reliable and suprisingly smooth if you put all 9 through it quickly but it misfeeds fairly regularly when I take slower deliberate shots. Its a simple missfeed though and just needs the tension taking off the cocking mechanism to let it feed into the breech. I've owned very expensive autos before this and they have not shot as well but have fed far better! I like it for the money! Oh yeah and if your anywhere near local and its decent nick I'll have the hushpower! PM on the way!
  12. Like most people have said, CZ is as much as you need for a starter rimfire. Having said that, Savage do a very nice thumbhole stock that I'm a big fan of but is a bit more pricey than the CZ and then after that its the Anschutz all the way. I started with a CZ, which was fine, then picked up a Savage 93 and now got the Anschutz 1417. I'd kinda put them in that order of buying preference with about £200 to £300 inbetween each one from new but in all honesty, other than snob value and look and feel, my Anschutz is no more accurate at bunny bashing. I can just get a smaller tighter group with it!
  13. Frank Dyke is the UK importer supplier I think. 0208 6702224
  14. I think from the reviews I'd buy this today but I really want to see one in the flesh and maybe in use before I commit. My local pet gunsmith doesn't stock them so I'd have to source it from somewhere on the net and kinda buy it blind and although it looks like it might be the best thing I ever buy (for my bunny bashing) its a £1,000 risk. I know of one guy on here who has one. Anyone else used one or seen it up close?
  15. I shoot a CZ auto with a SAK moderator using sub ammo and you virtually just hear the click of the bolt sliding and thats it. Very often I can pop a bunny and it was so quiet his mate is still looking around to see whats going on while I line him up for no 2!!
  16. Someone on here had bought an N550 night vision scope and was doing a bit of a review of it. Anyone else had one and got an opinion as I'm thinking of buying? I think they said that it was quite good but that the remote control was being fouled by the rifle bolt and they were waiting to hear back from the suppliers? Just interested to know what that was about and if the suppliers are any good? Cheers Lee
  17. I dont mind that, I just need to make an informed decision and I'm struggling for resources at the moment! My local shop is OK but they know I will spend what it takes and I only what to buy what I need!
  18. What kind of ranges do you use that at? I assume its the Genration 1 version that sells at around the £600 mark? The problem with all thee sites is that they dont seem to post an effective range against them. Dont get me wrong, I'm not expecting pin clear images at 300 yards but I'm willing to spend the money that will let me pick out a bunny clearly at 100 yards. Questions is do I need to spend £2k to do that or is something at the £1k mark or less useable?
  19. That looks spot on. So do you have one of these and expereince of shooting with it? Great video clip! It looks perfect for the bunny shooting I do. Do you know if they have any kind of life span? Its a fair outlay for a piece of kit but if it lasts then its a good deal. Indeed if the generation 2 can spot me a target over 100 yards I could use it on other rifles as well making it more flexible and worth spending the extra cash! I see you have a price for the Pulsar N550. I couldnt see it that cheap anywhere so where were yu looking out of interest? Cheers for your help, great stuff!
  20. I've been lamping bunnies for a while with a friend and really enjoying it on a great piece of varied land. Increasingly I want to go out on my own so I'm looking at all the different ways I can achieve this without a buddy to hold the lamp. I'm considering everything from a rifle mounted lamp, a remote controlled roof mounted lamp Ive seen advertised by A1 decoy, to a night vision scope and would welcome peoples opinions based on real experience? At present, all from within the land rover, we have used a hand held nightforce 2 million candle power lamp witha red filter and a very cheap but bulky 5 million candle power flashlight, which I have to say is my favourite but defo needs a pal to handle it! I have to say I'm keen on night vision because it seems a small and self contained way of shooting without loads of extra kit! I have seen scopes at the £600 price range but my local dealer tells me they are worthless and you need to spend £2k to get anything that actually works in the field and isn't just a gimmick. I tend to be shooting at anything between 50 to 100 yards with a .22 and dont need to see the Taliban 500 yards away!!!!!! Anyone have any suggestions or recommendations?
  21. Thats interesting because at the first sign of trouble I did check for previous issues and complaints on the net but couldnt find any??? Where have you seen issues?
  22. The poles I bought had faulty plastic fittings on them made of brittle plastic and 3 of 8 broke when unpacking them. £100 worth of the order has yet to arrive! I did speak to a guy within a week of getting the first bits of the order who did sound OK and said he would sort everything but still waiting now! Were your poles OK? He said he had a faulty batch in. Its a shame because everything else I got was top drawer and at a good price!
  23. Title must not have passed the filter check. Suppose to be decoying dot co dot uk Has anyone else dealt with this Company? They are in Wigan but have a nice looking website with some decent prices! After an initial brilliant response and a negotiated 10% discount for about £400 worth of decoying gear, almost a month later I am still waiting for most of it and am now having trouble getting any responses from them. Anyone done business with them an perhaps vouch for there honesty to put my mind at rest?
  24. Brilliant information though mate and a good insight!
  25. Ah right, I see what you mean now!! I reckon then my brother might serve as a cheap alternative to that lol
