  1. Good point about releasing the trigger. Im doing that from now on!
  2. Harkila with the windstopper lining. Very thin but surprisingly warm.....
  3. Check it going in....check it coming out. Same for any firearm. Bolt forward to rest spring.
  4. My wife bought me a Doskosport slip a few years ago. A little uncomfortable to carry over your shoulder, but excellent protection.
  5. I bought a 2nd hand invector plus teague extended 1/2 choke for my Browning Maxus. Might be purely a psychological advantage, but its shooting powerful well for me. Hitting ducks very hard at 40 yds+.
  6. I have a Browning Maxus and a Miroku MK70, I shoot clays and live quarry with both and I wouldnt part with either. And Im left handed (Maxus is a right handed gun.) I rarely even see the empty go....shoots as smooth as butter.
  7. Im in the same boat. Started our fella off with an Investarm .410 O/U which was good to get his confidence in pulling the trigger but very limited in actual shooting terms. After a bit of experimenting, we reckon a lightweight 20 is the best option. He can shoot 50 21grm shells in sucession with no detriment, use heavier loads for the field, where he will probably shoot less than 10 shots in a session and can easily carry/mount it. I would have loved to go for a 12 but the weight of the gun itself was the issue. Was briefly dazzled by the Benelli Woodcock (maybe more for me than him!) but its well outside my budget. Also like the slight safety advantage of an O/U...
  8. Right now!,I need to get off this fence!!! Ive narrowed my options for my young lads(10) next gun to a lightweight 20ga.O/U. He has tried a Dan arm which suited him well with 21grm loads. I also have an option of a Bettinsoli Xtra Light and know that I can get a Yildiz Youth model, all for around the same money to change up from his Inverstarm .410. Any opinions/experience?
  9. Half choke. Fit and forget! Once you start chopping and changing, if you miss a shot, you will start to wonder if it was the choke selection that caused you to miss! It most probably wasnt. I speak from bitter experience!!!
  10. I have a Maxus and I love it. No complaints at all.
  11. I put a Pachmayr pad on my Miroku exactly as ChrisAsh describes. Very easy, no danger to the stock and perfect fit. Just take your time.
  12. Im looking for a Teague Invector plus 1/2 choke, preferably extended/ported, if anyone can help........
  13. Hi - I shoot with 3 others over various small patches of ground. We rely on wild game entirely and run on a very tight budget. We have run a small syndicate a few years ago, releasing 300 birds which we reared from poults for 3 seasons. The returns were poor and though enjoyable it was very time consuming. We were considering buying adult birds 3 or 4 times throughout this season and releasing them a day or so before shooting, at various sites. Is this realistic and if so, does anybody have any tips/experience?
  14. Yeah, I would as a last resort, but I hate the look of them!!
  15. Hi - I have one of the first generation Escorts in Mossy Oak, with the straight recoil pad. My problem is that the stock is very short. The trigger pull including the 1/2 inch butt pad is about 13 1/2 inches. I need about 15 1/4 and dont want to have to fit an enormous butt pad!!! Anybody had this problem or any solutions??
