  1. I can't believe that you are even contemplating this !!! Do you really want to risk your dogs getting seriously ill, or worse , for the chance at a few rats !!! Let it pass is my advice One of my GF's springers got a slight dusting of ant powder on his nose a while back. He obviously licked his nose, then a couple of hours later was taken very ill, and things didn't look good. This lasted two days and he thankfully pulled through, but took a further couple of weeks for him to get back to normal. And this was from just a tiny bit of ant powder,,,, think about it please fella cheers.
  2. Hi Dave, Many thanks for that ATB Chris
  3. Hi guys, Does anyone have any contact details for the titled breeder/trainer please ? I've done the google search and it seems to connect all searches to Facebook, which I'm not going to join. Any help much appreciated as always Cheers Chris
  4. Hi Ant, I give my spare rabbits to an animal/BOP centre. No money changes hands as the place needs as much help as it can get. It's not far from you and I'm sure they'll be very glad to take some off your hands. They take them exactly as your frozen ones, whole with guts in. If you're interested in doing this, PM me and I'll give you more details Cheers Chris
  5. I shoot near Canterbury and I'm starting to see them in small [30-50] flocks. Been [air] shooting them at roost and most have crops full of ivy berries, a couple with grain [pheasant feed?] and a couple with small unidentified leaf fodder. Seeing more the windier it gets, flocking into conifers for the night's roost.
  6. I've had a few over the last couple of weeks roost shooting with my air rifle. All were full of ivy berries and a few small green leaves and one was full of grain. No OSR in my area yet and all the acorns were gone a while ago now
  7. Hi Rob and welcome to PW. As above, lots of door knocking to find your holy grail I'm afraid. Lots of driving out into Kent a bit too, coz there won't be much local to you as you've found with the golf courses. The Isle of Grain isn't too far and would be worth a try. Lots of farmland there with plenty of rabbits and pigeons to have a go at. Good luck atb, Chris
  8. Kent and the SE in general has a huge population of these. They roost in the Kingston/Twickenham area mainly and in my area [NW Kent/SE London] they are seen flying west to roost in large numbers, with some small flocks numbering 30+ Those that are saying don't shoot them clearly have no idea how destructive a bird they actually are, with their nice green plumage and good looks in general. They can strip the buds off fruit [and other] trees far quicker than our favourite big grey bird. They rob nests, turf out woodpeckers from their holes then use them as their own nest site. They are a non native invasive species that doesn't fit in with the UK ecosystem,,,, hence their inclusion on the GL. I for one, have shot a few and will continue to do so. As said in a previous post,,,, they are a magpie in green clothing If magpies flocked and roosted in the numbers that these do, I'm sure some on here wouldn't hesitate to shoot them !!! Those that won't shoot them should read the above and understand that they are not a cute, cuddly, harmless little green parrot !!!
  9. SR, you've obviously not seen them in action ,,,,,,,,, ,,,,,,,, Like aga man said Definitely not a nice green parrot !!!
  10. Offers now accepted for these items Cheers Chris

  17. Hi m2tyj, I only ever used it to spot rabbits at approx. 100 yds max on a permission with lots of trees and a couple of open lawn/grass areas. But they were very easily identifiable with eye-shine and outline easily seen. Also watched a cock pheasant getting stalked by a fox at well over 150 yds, this too was very good viewing. I think others have upped the IR by taping on a separate torch, but I can't comment on this as I've never had to up the range. HTH. Chris ps. @ Redditch. Ain't timing a bitch sorry....

    rabbits

Some great advice from the guys above except this typo maybe More like what turbo has said, in red below Glad to help and good luck
  21. What ever floats your boat There you go,,,,, a bit of teasing or are you telling us that you "go both ways"
  22. Hi JP, thanks for your input Yes it is a bit "marble" like, not a pebble at all. Those small diamond core-bits look just the job, will have to find one of a suitable size Cheers again Chris
  23. Hi fella, no need to apologise, any help on here is for everybody Thanks for all the replies guys, but I really need to fix the stone properly as I can't risk it getting lost. Just want the bare stone as a top to the handle, so not resin covered So it must be drilled, even if it's just a shallow hole. Has anyone drilled into a stone before, and is it as difficult as we all seem to think ? As I've said, I've got one chance at this so don't want to mess it up. This really is a unique stone to use, the pictures don't do it justice, as it looks like a close-up of the Velociraptor in Jurassic Park,,,,, and my GF has a thing about strange stones Got one that looks like "The Scream",,,, sort of Pics on request B) Cheers again Chris
  24. Agree with all the above,,,, PW is the best shooting forum I'm a member of, full of very helpful guys with help and info on ALL subjects going both ways. A bit of teasing amongst it all keeps things light,,,, IMO
  25. That's a great idea, thanks. The flat [ish] mounting face of the stone is approx. 1 1/4" x 1 1/2" and slightly oval shaped so would fit on the thick part of a Stag Horn, with some shaping and would actually carry on the shape quite well. Plus it fits my GF's small hands quite nicely,,,,, the stone that is Here's a couple more pics showing the mounting face and the rough shape of the stone. Really I was wondering if it's possible to drill, peg and glue the stone Would a tile drilling bit do the job ? Don't want to mess this up as it's a no second chance job that's for sure Any more help appreciated Chris
