  1. Thanks for the extra help Paul223. If it helps, I slept in my van one night a few months ago [don't ask ] and started the engine a couple of times through the night. On the third time, at first light [it was very cold that night] this latest fault started. Engine revving, fan kicking in randomly, temp gauge flicking about. Would this have burnt something out, with the van being stationary? It's only recently that it's getting worse, with the exhaust noticeably darker. Oil consumption has been getting higher recently, only noticeable when parked on a slant and the oil and service lights stay on. I hope it is an easy cheap fix, 'cos I'm skint  Thanks to all, will keep you informed. regards Chris
  2. Many thanks for all your replies guys I'll digest some of the info and try to speak to a mechanic to see if I get told anything different. Is it likely to just pack up, or is it ok to run [carefully, I don't race about] for a while? regards Chris
  3. Hi all you PW mechanics, hope you can help with a diagnosis to this query. My Trafic dci 100 1.9 [54 plate] has just developed its 2nd fault. The first was [18 months ago], it wouldn't restart when hot, having to wait a few minutes, then no problem starting, or running. This was when I was fueling up in Tesco's exclusively. Since stopping going to T's for my fuel this fault has cured itself?!?! Right, now the current fault. The coil light is now nearly always the last light to go out, used to be the first/second. Also the engine rev's have increased, but go back to normal when the engine warms up. Also the water temp guage flickers up and down sometimes, but now just doesn't move unless the cooling fan kicks in, which is intermittently. Also there's an excess of dark smoke from the exhaust, and it seems more sluggish than normal going uphill, not much but noticable. No problems with starting/re-starting, or with the engine cutting out, just these problems. Can anyone help with this and offer some advice for a complete non-mechanic type? It has been suggested that the timing belt might be about to go? Any help and advice as to the possible cause and solution will be much appreciated, and some virtual refreshments will be handed out Thanks in advance. Chris
  4. Hi fella, have you actually handled an Ultra, or just fancy getting one? I've had mine for 2 1/2 yrs and had no problems with it at all. I got it regged after a short time [6 months] and it made a nice gun into a superb gun. TBH this question comes up a lot, and the Ultra gets its usual slagging off,,,, well, the MMC does, but as quirky as it is, if used/cocked correctly it isn't as bad as some people make out It is possible to double load, but aren't most air rifles??? In answer to your question.... Yes, the BSA Ultra in .177 is very suitable for shooting pigeons, and all other air gun quarry,,,, but so is .22 My opinion? Give it a go, you don't know if you don't try it atb Chris

    Yukon Ranger 5x42

    On hold,,,, waiting for funds.
  11. Yukon Ranger 5x42 NV monocular for sale. I bought this on here just over a month ago, but find it too much of a great bit of kit for my shoots, being quite small and with lots of trees. This really suits open fields and long distance spotting, which I don't have or do, so it's got to go. This comes in its original box with all the bits n bobs as in the picture below. This is just over a year old, in excellent condition, and looks brand new, with no marks or scratches anywhere. I'm asking £200 including postage, which is a bargain for this great bit of kit. Also including 6 new AA batteries. Payment by bank transfer or paypal [buyer pays fees]. This is also advertised elswhere. Chris
  12. Hi fella, I find it's best to fry up your extras, onions, leeks [par-boiled] garlic etc first, then fry the breasts, remove when cooked, then put onions/leeks/garlic back in the pan, add some flavouring/sauce if required, deglaze with a splash wine, then tip contents of pan onto breasts,,,, boiled new potatoes and petit-pois, ground black pepper over the lot,,,, delish atb Chris
  13. I should be popping along on Sunday. Will be my first visit to this one. Here's the prices page from their website http://www.contour.uk.net/kentgamefair/tickets.php

  16. Hi all, I'm after one of these, if anyone has one they aren't using any more, or can recommend one. It's for one of my partners Springers. Some background,,,, she [we] have tried lots of normal techniques to no avail. He [6 yrs old ] has a mind of his own most of the time, but does have some very good instincts, and reacts to some commands, but not those that matter off, or on the lead. My partner started his training very early, after getting him at 8 weeks old, but soon after, personal reasons [close family bereavement] put training off and the slack spell is now showing big time. She has two ESS's, both males, and the slightly older one is very obedient, but the difficult one has changed him a little. Some habits changed but nothing that can't be controlled. Any help and advice welcome also, but my partner knows that the "collar" will work. She had four ESS's at one time, and they were all well trained by her, and all could be off the lead where appropriate with no problems, so she knows her Springers. Thanks in advance. Chris
