It was a question that came up on a news programme 'ask the specialist' slot,,,, "Can I drive to a park to walk my dog. Have a dog that needs lots of exercise, and no park nearby ? “ Answer,,,," Yes of course. If your dog needs a lot of exercise it is perfectly acceptable." Impossible to 'run out with your dog, giving it proper exercise and playing fetch on the streets' anywhere 🤔 Mixed messages and info from too many people. Everyone needs to use common sense, the police and authorities included.

Right,,,, in my circumstances, shooting air rifles only, I would go out on my permissions every day while this situation is ongoing. I mainly shoot rabbits, with the odd chance of a pigeon or two, the odd magpie - if I'm stealthy enough - occasionally even the odd crow. My shooting area covers around 100 acres, all on VERY private grounds,,,, now please tell me where that is WRONG ? ,,,,, after I tell you that it's all connected paddocks, crop fields, private estate land and organic veggie farm,,,, and ALL emanating from my girlfriend's 3 acre property which is horse paddock [unfortunately minus any horses] 🤔 ps.... I won't be doing this as I live and work away from that area and am self isolating at the moment 🙄 And if I did, only myself, my GF and landowners would know about it.

My answer is,,,, try it,,,, see how you feel about it while you're there,,,, then, DON'T TELL ANYONE ON THE INTERNET WHAT YOU'VE BEEN DOING,,,, because you'll upset some, and please others. But really you don't need to inform the world about what you want to do 👍 The Internet is an outlet for some,,,, some believe everything on it, but nobody HAS to post on here and other forums etc, everything they get up to. Agreed and agreed,,,, everyone take care and be safe 👍 You are correct in your observations. Unfortunately, there's a lot of people that take no notice of advice, whoever or wherever it's from, as they are too busy congregating with their own kind ,,,, as seen on numerous news items 😳

Yeah, sorry,,,, re these meeting people,,,, Didn't mean shaking hands and hugs etc,,,, should have said they are in the public eye and showing moral by doing things beneficial [carefully of course]. IE,,,, lots of sports people are giving their time to help those in need. Footballers from low divisions making food parcels to give to isolating people in their community,,,, etc etc,,,, Basically doing something, anything to boost morale and help where they can. Doing stuff on social media,,,, health and fitness, blah blah blah,,,, Obviously Prince Charles wouldn't do any of that. There's probably many more examples of this, but I'm stuck indoors watching TV and flicking about on the Internet, so only know what is being shown via those. Don't know if the test kits were/are available detect this virus, or if they were/are available via private health care, I was guessing that they might be ? If they were/are, then they would have had a stock of them surely,,,, not buy them in when needed ? Anyway, to finish my input,,,,, The title of your topic should be "Why are all these rich and/or famous/powerful people getting tested before essential workers" 👍 Because that's your real gripe 🤔

So what you're saying is,,,, if you suddenly get really bed [covid-19] symptoms,,,, get to the relevant hospital department,,,, you would refuse to be tested, get sent home, get worse etc etc ? I do see where you are coming from, but everyone's personal circumstances are different to yours. Some people, like most you have mentioned, are in the public eye,,,, have civil and public duties etc,,,, ie - meeting lots of people in many different places, and possibly spreading the virus. If they want to continue with this,,,, which at the moment is beneficial to those they are visiting, they SHOULD get tested,,,, in my opinion. How and where and who's paying for these tests is possibly a question to ask ? Like I said,,,, most people of wealth and status have private health cover etc,,,, BUPA for example,,,, maybe, perhaps, possibly the tests are done via this ? As for saying "the practice is wrong",,,, do you know how, where, when, who paid for these rich powerful sports film business royal bods tests ? I certainly don't.

Fella,,,, calm down 🙂 If I'm correct, getting tested for this virus isn't a life or death situation in itself. Most of the infected, general public and health workers etc, are only getting tested once their symptoms get so bad they are forced to go to hospital,,,, only then does it become [possibly] a life or death situation. This virus doesn't differentiate between those with £ or those without £. Also, now I'm only guessing here,,,, perhaps the 'rich and powerful' might have private health set-ups ? Maybe they get tested via this, seeing as they are paying for the service ?

I'm no royalist, but think it is correct to 'test' the 1st in line for the throne. Would you have complained if it was the Queen in the same circumstances ? I'm guessing that'll be a no 😉 I do agree with you regarding the testing of the 'front line' workers, as you put it,,,,, but you've answered that one in the same sentence,,,, not enough testing kits available,,,, something which is being worked on drastically, according to the MP on TV earlier. As for other 'rich and powerful' people getting tested,,,, can't answer that, except to say, were/are kits available to purchase ? I personally don't know. Also, I wouldn't class Idris Elba to be "rich and powerful",,,, rich and famous perhaps 😏

Fella, you need to calm down and think about what you say before spouting this first quoted line, which is what I'm reading in your posts on this subject ! So in the paragraph 2), are you insinuating that Prince Charles has been taken to an ICU ahead of people in more need, and his life is in threat ? From what I'm seeing, he is in isolation,,,, his life isn't in threat [at the moment]. His status is way much higher than everyone except the Queen, so deserves the best treatment available,,,, in my opinion. Also,,,, didn't see you berating on here about that chump Trump getting tested and shown to be clear ?!

This is the same as other 'work',,,, essential only, but,,,, this is a very grey area and difficult to police. General building is important,,,, if your work is interrupting someone's general way of life, that's important,,,, if your work is just general maintenance and won't affect someone's health/way of life,,,, not important. There are lots of other variables, obviously. But,,,, who is going to police this ? In my opinion, just carry on if you can, and follow the guidelines. If any industry grinds to a halt, it will affect more than that industry and cause massive economic issues across the board,,,, not sure if that's clear, but you know what I'm trying to say 😏 Basically, carry on until you can't,,,, my opinion 👍

No problem D69 🙂 These figures getting spouted by the media and the 'top bods' are purely guesswork at the moment. The people who have contracted the virus numbers are from those who have been tested. The dead, unfortunately, is an ever increasing figure, and I personally feel very sad for their kin/friends/colleagues etc. All numbers/figures are going to keep climbing, especially when the ignorant ones keep gathering, not keeping a safe distance, and ignoring good all round advice. We won't know the full figures until these dreadful times are over. I'm self isolating [bad 6 week long chest infection], and I'm self employed, so I'm keeping my eyes on all info/advice etc and doing the most sensible things possible in my circumstances. Edit to add,,,, I live alone and have no one near me to help with shopping etc, so I've got to go out,,,, something I plan rigorously and carefully and only once or twice a week.

Sorry fella, but your maths isn't correct. 1% of 66 million is 660,000. Also, the percentages of deaths are worked out from the infected numbers, not the population figures. As for bringing in 'lockdown', in my opinion, as soon as possible ! As for this govt help with wages,,,, I'm sure I saw, when it was first announced, that it would be UP TO 80% ?

Great to see the "old beastie" on the mend and eating again 🙂 Tracking back,,,, could he have swallowed something that caused a slight blockage but then passed through ? One of my GF's springers had a penchant for her woollen socks. He ate one which passed through,,,, no real signs of being unwell. Then a couple of years ago he ate another,,,, for a week he didn't eat much,,,, head hanging, tail not up,,,, generally looking poorly, but eating OK. Then one day he started being sick,,,, vomiting. The sock came out in one heave, and he was fine straight away. So might be a good idea to feel him around his stomach/gut area just in case something is still lurking in there. Eating stones is a common occurrence, but I'm sure you know that. Nice looking dog,,,, his mate too 😉

My boss had that done,,,, on his drive,,,, no-one heard a thing. A month later, after replacing the light clusters, the whole vehicle went,,,, 2 trackers on it,,,, 'they' found and ripped out one, not realising there was another. Police found it and 20 others on a 'farm' in Essex, along with 8 Romanians. He was given a new one as a replacement and that went as well. Keep your eyes open and if possible up your security 👍

OK,,,, now you've told us your future plans 👍 Wait until it's dry weather,,,, carefully lift both lead flashings,,,, you can do it in sections and support the lead with timber,,,, dry area beneath with a hot air gun/paint stripper, being careful near the lead,,,, layer lots of lead/gutter sealant to the area,,,, re-dress the lead. That should do the job until your improvements,,,, hope that helps 😉 If you look carefully you can see the small i-beams in the concrete slab.

Re the dip,,,, can sort of see what you're describing. Still doesn't look right 🤔 The two separate lead flashings are basically doing nothing,,,, but 'sucking' water back to the roof/wall junction using capillary action. You can use as much sealant as you like,,,, that sealant is the only thing stopping the ingress. On a 'flat' roof that system will not work. I've seen pitched roofs with the same issue. As it stands, if you take the lead away and seal the 'junction', that will do a temporary fix. TBH, for a proper fix, I would wrap it with a roofing sheet layer,,,, 3 layered mineral felt, rubber, fiberglass. With firring pieces and 18mm ply, and 18mm ply verges to keep things not protruding past the existing roof area.

In the first picture is that an asphalt layer over the concrete slab? Can't really make it out as it is wet. Can't see concrete 'sagging' like that. That big hole/sunken area looks worrying. There is lead flashing and I'm sure there is 'flashband' beneath that from a previous attempt to seal it. I'm sure that the slab would have been cast beneath that external brickwork. Whatever the make up, that needs some attention ASAP!

Judging by your picture, the ceiling spans across the beam? If yes, then above that hole are the timber joists for an upstairs room? And you're right, it's a mess! Just watch out for ACM's.... Asbestos Containing Materials. Lots to list, do a Google search if you're unsure 😉
