  1. For me personally, I just find it sad to see green fields built over when we have so many decadent old unused brownfield areas within towns and cities. The age old topic I suppose.
  2. That is very saddening, but not surprising.
  3. ---Good luck and let us know how you get on.--- Thanks, It'll be a little while yet as im in the middle of moving house. I'll have a bit more space for such endeavours as well as a vice where im going to help with things. I will try the jig idea for sure. For me even when I was a young lad, word 'shotgun' gave me an image in my head of a hammer gun ha ha Unfortunately some of these old relics are damn near worthless however that lets some of us buy them cheaply and enjoy them at least!
  4. Im going to try to use either heat lamps or hot oil. Its something I have not attempted yet however it's something id like to learn to do. I will probably practice on an old wrecker of a gun (or two) first before attempting this one. Im aware the semi pistol grip will make it tougher and that I'll need to bend that tang too, theres only a small amount of r/h cast, so it wont need too much movement... hopefully that makes it easier!
  5. I also miss the Bosher ad's, id had a couple of guns from him myself. To keep on topic with this thread, something I obtained on the weekend. A Fred Williams hammer. How can you say no? I'm a leftie, its nearly straight but I'm going to maybe try some stock bending with it when I get chance.
  6. Is the action tight? Also is there any signs of pitting in the barrels?
  7. Ive been using a 30" Gold E sporter for a year or so now. I've got on with it well and fail to see the attraction for a new Beretta equivalent currently. With such second hand bargains about currently, there's lots to enjoy. And to keep this on topic, id have been interested in this gun if it were left handed myself. Ive one of these in r/h that my lady or occasional newbie may use and its a nice well built gun.

I was listening to Radio 4 earlier, the amount of bias felt rather unjust indeed.
  9. Yes it is rather disheartening to say the least. The long process may be a mixture of bieng deliberate and general low productivity of what I'm imagining will still be classed as civil service / public sector. And before I get any grief about slagging of the public sector, I work in the public sector and I see pleeeenty of it sadly.
  10. Thank you all, I'll mention this to him
  11. I'll be heading down sometime, its decent enough for a relaxed play with my old sxs for some fun. The clay prices aint usually too bad either
  12. Hi all, This topic has been covered a few times but im after some advice with a slighly different slant on it. I have had a non certificate holder join me on several occasions to learn to shoot. Over the past 12 months he has been a safe shot and is most definitely competent. He has used a spare gun, and my ammunition at a few local clay grounds. Obviously, all equipment comes home with me. His intention was to get his own certificate once he has moved out from his parents house. (My mum had the same attitude when i was in my late teens, i.e no guns under my roof) He seems to have lost interest or given up trying to fly the nest, which is none of my business really. My question is, is there a point where this chap needs to obtain his own cert or can he indefinitely shoot with me under my close supervision? Many thanks for any advice!
  13. Ive not seen an FEO for over 10 years. Renewals have been done over the phone, if I remember right. Although resources are limited, I kinda would respect bieng scrutinised a little bit and have nothing to hide should my good lady be questioned about my character. The only slight niggle I've had with Cheshire Constabulary was a while back when they had two guns that I'd traded in still listed on my licence. I was told words to the effect of "Ah, sometimes when there's multiple transfers that are done in one go, one or two get missed" Other than that, its been pretty good from Cheshire in my experience.
