  1. When my fixed expired some years ago I rang my building society (the Britannia) to see what they could offer, they had loads of different ones on offer, I am currently on a tracker rate, dont be afraid to if necessary move your mortgage to another lender if necessary but check if there are any set up or cancellation fees involved. PS Now is a very cheap time to borrow money if you want that extension, conservatory or double garage/workshop.
  2. Of course we care, I love buying a new gun, 4 guns in 2.5 years , I still get the same buzz even now as I did the first time I picked up a gun, I wish I could shoot every day instead of just once or twice a week.
  3. Congratulations on the new purchase, now go out and shoot it and have some fun.
  4. Out of habit I check my extended chokes for tightness a couple of times on a shoot.
  5. The answer may or may not be here http://forums.pigeonwatch.co.uk/forums/ind...showtopic=75429
  6. I am from Staffordshire, Stoke on Trent to be precise, we shoot mainly on the Cheshire side but do venture over to Doveridge and Shugborough, if we can find out just how many of us are from Staffs we could have a Staffs get together similar to the Essex mafia get togethers, possibly do something in a couple of months time. Fill your profile in so we get to know a little about you.
  7. I joined BASC last year for the first time, money did not come into the equation, I reserached the main stream ones and chose BASC because I have confidence in the association, everyone knows of them, I know help is there if I have a problem, instruction for new shooters by the BASC coaches is first class and they do a lot for shooting in general, I will renew my membership with them again this year, no question about it.
  8. Extended chokes look great and make me shoot better ........... not. For me my Miroku came with 3 extended teagues, the advantage as I see it is if you are one of them who change chokes on every stand they are quick and easy to swop with out a choke key and also as said before, they do offer a little more protection to the end of the barrel. The comp n choke are a good choke and after me and pair away carried out back to back tests with our mirokus and teague versus comp n choke, the comp n choke patterned much better. http://www.comp-n-choke.com/
  9. I have just had the Grub hunter boots, nice and warm and seem well made.

    Cleaning

I wasnt telling you how you should clean a wet gun, you asked how we clean a gun so I told you how I do it, if it is WET I strip and clean it particularly the chokes as rain will get into the thread or the end of the barrel (well it did on mine once) other than that as I said "I clean the barrel or barrels after every outing and wipe the action down, takes seconds."

    Cleaning

If its wet, strip it and clean it including taking chokes out to clean and lube, I clean the barrel or barrels after every outing and wipe the action down, takes seconds.

    shotgun incident

To load a gun indoors regardless is an act of stupidity and he obviously has no gun sense or awareness. His licence should be revoked if he has a licence, if it is on someone elses licence theres should be revoked for allowing an act of stupidity or unsupervised handling of a gun, no licence should be given back until they have attended and passed some kind of advanced gun safety exam, I hate to sound heartless and I hope the lad is not permantley injured or loses use of his foot but someone could of easily of been killed through this insane act of stupidity, what a terrible start to the new year.
  13. Feel top of the world, just going to have a full cooked breakfast then off out for a walk. Was in bed for 11.15, nothing on telly and bored of drinking. Roll on Friday and out shooting.
  14. Just watch the postage with mail order carts, can work out expensive. http://www.justcartridges.com/howtoorder.html
  15. Youre not kidding, I dont think that Stevie Wonder could of done a worse job of the marking.
  16. They must be plastic at that price Gordon I picked up some first fibre from Kelbrook yesterday on my way back from Rishton, we paid £136, a small detour but worth it, our supplier in Stoke put his price up to £150.
  17. Dont know if you have seen this but some tips here http://www.ukshootwarehouse.co.uk Go to "others" on the left hand side index then "decoy patterns"
  18. I keep going back to Eley firsts, still try different ones but firsts are consistantly good.
  19. Food Decent prices to shoot and for carts No ques Markers who are not blind Traps which are filled regularly Toilets Car parking and most important of all ....... good company who dont take it all too seriously, a bit of mickey taking and no offence taken.
  20. There was a similar looking creature on the Adams family, cant remember its name ..... oh yes, cousin it.
  21. What really rags me off is the people who think they should not pay a call out charge, I work in the service industry and operate a call out system, the arguments I have had about call out charges ............. I put it into perspective for the dumb, I get in my van for which I pay tax, insurance, MOT, fuel, servicing etc, I drive to your premises often sitting in traffic, I arrive and attach my expensive diagnostic equipment for which I have purchased and paid to be trained on how to operate it, why should i not be reimbursed for my travel time and vehicle costs etc, I could just as well stay at home and give you £20 instead of coming out to you and i would be better off. Another way to look at it would be ......... if your boss rang you up and said I want you to come to work right now but I will not pay your travel time, fuel or vehicle costs would you go? The answer I have received every time is NO! It really annoys me.
  22. Are there many farms which you can shoot on in Staffordshire or to put it another way, would it be worthwhile to join just to shoot in Staffordshire.
  23. Good decision, nice and simple and cheap enough to keep a few spares as well, just dont slam the bolt on it, control the pressure of the bolt with your hand and the flag will last longer.
  24. B & Q have a section which sells all types of steel and ally, flat bar, square bar, angle, threaded rod, round bar, spiral bar, solid and hollow ........ huge selections, you could also use welding rods as they come in different diameters.
