  1. Nah there's no website it's just a straw bale shoot, on a grand scale of course. 1 big tent with a few scrappy tables in it, a burger van (not much cop) and some portaloo’s and that's your lot, oh and maybe the GMK stand will be there. Some friends of mine shot it yesterday and they kept me posted on how they were doing and some other peoples scores too. On the whole they said it was very enjoyable. I wish I was doing it now, I was originally booked in for the Saturday but then had to cancel.
  2. I would just like to say in my defence that BMI or age did not feature in my complex algorithm for predicting the final PW scores. That would just be rude after all I am no Kate Moss myself. I didn’t own up to Cat but I was already in receipt of the morning’s scores
  3. Oh God, I really wanted to change my Mungler prediction..............I'm scared for my life now.

    Monday Fun

    http://hk.promo.yahoo.com/movie/superman/Stop_Press_Game/ A tad addictive. 95 for me
  5. Just got back from Barbury Shooting School near Swindon, it's a great little place although very expensive £20 for 50 sporting. I don't go very often because of expense and the targets are school targets so not very difficult. I took another lady with me who only been shooting 5 months, but she's going to be a great shot. She's been having lessons but i wanted to see how she was on her own without her instructor. She did great 30 ex 50 and I only had to point out if she was behind or didn't have the right line a couple of times. She was really pleased. I carded 46 ex 50 I use Barbury for concentration more than anything. Also it's the county FITASC next week and I needed to practice gun down. I never shoot gun down so it's a real challenge for me. Anyway great morning, finished with a G&T, what more could you ask
  6. Even though it's in my county it's 120 mile round trip for me. Worth it though, I'll find out about cartridge restrictions. I'm with pin on the carrot cake, but chelsea buns....now you're talking....................however I'm on the cake wagon at the moment so i'm trying not to think about them at all. It's not working too well
  7. I knew you'd get a "carrot cruncher" dig in there somewhere B) You're right though it is 120 birds and doh! non registered. 10 points for spotting it, good job I edited the spelling mistakes really quickly before you noticed. I should pay more attention, I was talking to Will for ages too. Not very good at advertising am I? I'll probably do the Wiltshire Sportrap at Southern Counties first thing and then pop over to Ham Cross after then.
  8. Here's a date for your diaries. B) Will Thatcher is having a clay shoot at his Shooting Ground in Wiltshire on Sunday April 29th entries are 10am to 3pm. 100 bird registered shoot and re-entry. This is definitely not to be missed, you can be guaranteed of some great targets in fact an excellent shoot all round. Will’s a brilliant course setter. He's got a wicked high tower and throws some testing driven targets from it. It's a very enjoyable shoot. The address is Ley Farm Teffont Evias Salisbury, Wiltshire, SP3 5RW Phone: 07971 411536 Come and have a go if you think you're 'ard enough
  9. "Some of us" need to learn to type, or check what they have written. Cranners i really dont know what you talking about B) Bit young for alzheimer's ain't ya! I think he's talking about the fact that the record was set February 9th and not April 9th I seem to remember a post encouraging us all to sign in on that date to see how many we could get on line at one time.
  10. Jane Torville? Harrumph! She must have 15 years on me. I fear I may have to strike you from my Christmas card list.
  11. Oakley M Frames are expensive yes but good. Ebay no doubt will have some Foakley's if you want that shape but don't want the cost of real Oakleys. Although I wouldn't fancy your chances of being able to change the lenses. Mungler, that's not your problem is it? Also cyclists use a similar array of lenses to us so no need to stick to the shooting type glasses if you need to be thrifty. I'm a label kind of girl so went for the Oakleys. My philosophy being if you can't shoot well, look good
  12. Thanks guys. Pin, Tosspot it may surprise you to know I did it cakeless yesterday. Didn't even look longingly at them. The trouble with Mrs Wylye Valley's cakes is once you have just one piece you need to try the others because they are so delicious. I did get the shakes a little bit but I resisted. Rarrrrrrr! I am strong
  13. I shoot gun up most of the time. I have the gun in my pick up place and I look back for the clay then when the clay is level with my gun I put my head on the stock and fire. I'll only shoot gun down if the clay is a long slow crosser and it's likely I'll get tired with the gun pre-mounted. I do practice gun down though as I enjoy the odd FITASC.
  14. Arh hah Thank you Cat you didn't mention the 91 you put in, was very impressive to watch. Well done See all that coaching you kindly given me has paid off. I started really badly, rabbit shooting last weekend has really aggrevated my back, first 2 stands I was in serious pain and ready to pack in but 1500mg of paracetemol and I was fine and could step up my game by stand 5. Steady but dropped stupid pairs, I knew the pressure was on so I got nervous, silly me could have easily been 7 more but still I'm very happy and as we speak have a rather large gin and tonic in my hand. (actually it's number 3 gin and tonic) So I'll sign off now, in a minute I won't be able to type........ Pin, you missed some seriously good tucker today, Mrs Wylye Valley really does out do everyone on the food front. Jonsey
  15. I skived off yesterday afternoon and a friend and I went to Treetops (Litts) Shooting ground in Newport. We both needed a bit of practice so we shot 100 competition style for concentration I shot 76 my friend 80 and then another 100 or thereabouts on various targets we’d struggled with. For me it’s driven targets so I shot a fair few of those at varying heights and speeds. They’ve got some brilliant targets on at the moment. I suppose there are about 20 stands at the ground so you don’t struggle to find a target you want to shoot. Also most of the stands have radio buttons so you can take the buttons to other stands and shoot that same target elsewhere. There are a couple of really fast blaze targets on that really make you swing your gun. You have to move quickly. All in all a very enjoyable afternoon and the weather was splendid, first time this year I’ve shot in my skeet vest and not my winter coat. Treetops is an excellent shooting ground, they are investing quite a lot of money there this year to improve the ground. They are having new high towers too which will be great. You can only shoot by appointment in the week as Saturday’s are club members shoots and they’re not open Sunday. If any of you find yourself over the water one day I recommend a visit. Wylye Valley on Sunday, another brilliant shooting ground. It’s the County English Sporting Championship so I expect the targets to be tough.

You're right, Love it or hate it, there's no in between. I'm awarding you 10 points for thinking of that

    Dogs

There's a lab and a collie in a farm where I walk my dogs sometimes. Every single time they catch me off guard. I'm ready for the ******* but they hide in a differnt place each time and then spring out of the undergrowth and bark like hell at me. I jump 6 feet every time guaranteed. They wouldn't leave the farm drive and actually have a go at me but i've squealed a few times when they've started. Not cool. I wouldn't chance dropping off the Christian Aid envelope at that farm
  20. Steve, yes next outing I'll get some more photo's and I'll get some practice in too. NTTF, you're right there was no bipod, Matt took it off because it's adds another 3lbs to the weight of the gun, and you can't tell from the photo but the quad has a plastic seat welded to the back (with seat belt, very posh it worked though I didn't slide off) and a rifle rest with padding on the left, it was just the right height. So being 'bipod-less' was ok. I took a few shots to the right, holding the gun up myself but it was hard work. At the start of the evening in the Landrover I had the window halfway down and rested the gun on that. When I first starting shooting my 12g I had trouble lifting it up for a few weeks, after 100 shots I was exhausted, I work in an office and the heaviest thing I ever pick up is a pen so getting used to the gun took some time. It's fine now though.
  21. Thanks Kipper, I really enjoyed it but I won't be giving up the clay shooting for it. I will go again when I've eaten more spinach and built up my muscles a bit Also 3 hours on that quad bike was a killer, my legs wouldn't work for 5 minutes afterwards. I did ask Matt what the rifle was but I only remember that it's a .17. I'll be clay shooting with him soon so I'll ask him and pay more attention. The adrenalin was pumping so much I couldn't really take anything in. I can see why you guys love it so much. I skipped a works dinner this evening for this and if was more than worth it. Jonsey
  22. I went rabbit shooting for the first time tonight. My friend Matt asked me out on his farm with another friend for the evening. I've never even shot a rifle before so we started in the Landrover first so I could get used to the rifle. I couldn't get on with the sight light so once that had gone I was hitting a few. Missing a whole lot too. Then when the light dropped it was back to the farm to get the quad bikes and we went all over the farm. I'm so tired now, I couldn't hardly lift the rifle by 11 so we called it a night. We only picked up 5 and of course I had to have my photo taken with them. You may notice that they aren't very clean shots I'll get better though. I had a great time but I doubt I'll be able to use my arms tomorrow or even for the next week. As soon as this picture was taken, everyone ran forward to get the rifle, I couldn't even hold it for the picture very well. I really am a weakling
  23. Gracious, posted over 20 mins ago and no sarcastic comments about Scousers and drive-by shootings, guys you’re slipping. Welcome to the Forum Jacob, I’m a fellow of “The Pool†landed down South a few years ago but go home regularly to top up my accent. Hope you find someone close to you to shoot with in the meantime there are a couple of shooting grounds Chester way, where you’ll meet some nice people, Catton Hall and Sealand, you’ll find their details on www.cpsa.co.uk. I can recommend them both.
  24. There was a lot of talk at the AGM on the cost of rebranding. They hadn't spent any money yet on the name change, they'd run all their existing stock down yes but actually not spent a penny on the name change. They had ear marked some money should the name change have gone ahead in this coming years finances. I will say one thing, this may surprise some of you it certainly did surprise me. I just hadn't thought of this at all. The board of directors could certainly have swung the vote in their favour by simply recruiting proxy FOR votes. This is a pefectly legal thing to do, they are all individual members of the CPSA and therefore they also have a vote. They took a stand not to do this, they thought the result should come from the feeling of the members that cared enough to vote. Less than 5% of members did actually vote. How sad. Anyway the result that matters is the name change will not go ahead. I don't suppose they'll try this again for another couple of years. That's all, it's been a very long day and I'm going to tuck into a bottle of wine now.
