  1. Mungler, have you ever made Chilli Vodka from your harvest? I make some every year and it makes excellent (not for wimps) Bloody Mary's. The hotter the chilli the better the vodka. I always take a bottle of chilli vodka game shooting, warms you up a treat on the coldest of days.

    Meet Alyssa

Congratulations Pin, what a beautiful little girl. Best wishes to Mrs Pin and welcome to the world Alyssa Jonsey
  3. Congratulations to Breadster that's an excellent achievement......well done that man. Was it a registered competition, if so get his form signed by the club and sent off to the 100 straight club......he'll get a nice badge to reward his hard work.
  4. Oh thanks sweetie I’m glad it’s no problem, thanks for calling me babes, you sweet thing you. You see us girlies missed out at school, whilst you boys were learning left and right us girls were sewing, knitting and learning to make the perfect Victoria sponge cake.(the secret is half margarine, half lard by the way) You’ve no call for left and right when you’re loading the washing machine and ironing your husband’s shirts. It doesn’t matter if you iron the left sleeve or right sleeve first. Now Honey behave yourself otherwise I’ll deliver a left hook…..or would that be right….Oh I don’t know which it would be…left right, right left………. And I just took a responsible adult out to the car park to confirm and it’s true. Although I will admit it was then pointed out to me that a 14 year old car would not have come with the dash facia I have on it. I’d better stick to things I know about like cleaning and cooking from now on……now if you'll excuse me I must flick a duster around and complete my shepherds pie. Cat......you are so funny it must be so exhausting.
  5. Didn't hit one until I got to peg 3....terrible could only manage 8
  6. Not true for me I'm afraid. The icon on the dash has a right hand pump but the petrol cap is on the left.
  7. The Browning Medallist is an excellent gun and very good value. I've just been to buy one with my friends 16 year old son. Not knowing anything about them I used this site to search for reviews to find what people thought about them. Based on that we went to buy it and I have to say it's a lovely gun. Brand new it was £641. I'm very impressed with it, it's sat in my cabinet now, we're just going through the transfer process for him now. DevilishDave wrote an excellent review on it, he uses the gun for all his shooting not just clays. It's wood effect but still looks great. Whilst we were in the shop my friends son held a number of guns and this one went straight into his shoulder a treat and his sight down the barrel was spot on. The only thing I would say is it's slightly barrel heavy but not massively so. All in all I am very impressed with it. If I was you, I go to a gun shop and do a bit of window shopping, try dry mounting a couple of them see which one is good for you. Write them down and then do a search on this site for reviews. I'm sure you'll find some words of wisdom on here. We can suggest lots of really great guns but you need to go and try some out in the shop. When I was buying my gun someone suggested a DT10 for me, so I went to the shop, mounted the gun and the comb was too low and I couldn't see down the barrels, that was the same with a couple of others. I tried a Miroku and it was just right. After a gun fit it was perfect. Go and try some, it's fun and you'll get some great advice. Jonsey
  8. I also went to Wylye Valley. Tosspot, you must have left by the time I got there. I had a lazy morning and didn’t get there until midday. Those two long crossers also caught me out. I hit one t’other, just couldn’t put the pair together and oddly I actually shot in front of them. Started as usual on the 20 bird pool shoot and shockingly I straighted it, all the single birds on first barrel too. Was a bit shocked, then I had that feeling of, there goes all my good shots. I’ll card a 35 now Anyway concentrated all the way around apart from that one one disastrous stand and finished on an 82 to take ladies class. I was very happy with that and celebrated with a large piece of cake and a mug of tea in the clubhouse afterwards. AAA Man, very good score at Westfields, I heard some good reports from the shoot. Berettaman, come on spill the beans, don’t be shy. Cat, well shot. Shooting gun down must have been a bit weird. Southdown has a reputation for hard layouts so very good score. Stuartp, very good shooting although I have to admit I don’t understand. However those scores look extremely impressive. Well done to everyone else. Jonsey
  9. Oh that's a shame I thought the sporting was a decent bit of practice. A good mix of tricky and easier (not easy) targets. Spot on, the food was very good and Teresa was very nice too. I think you might enjoy the ZZ Pin, it's something different to play at and certainly sharpens your reactions up. I didn't really cast a very good light on my friend in the earlier post I should say, she was one of the three ladies that came back from the World Championships this year with ladies Team Gold. An excellent result for GB.
  10. Arh Pin I'm sorry I had no idea you lived that close. I'll be going again in a couple of weeks time so I will let you and others know in good time that is if anyone else is interested. It's worth going and trying it out, plus there's a very decent sporting layout for afterwards.
  11. Went to A1 shooting ground yesterday to shoot Helice or ZZ as it's sometimes called. Firstly, never been to A1 before and everyone had warned me of how dangerous the turning into the Ground is off the A1, scary isn't the word. lets just say, I had the winkers on and I had slowed right down and still had to handbrake it off the carriageway into the drive and narrowly missed being shunted by a very large lorry. Helice is excellent fun, we were invited to shoot it by a Lady GB team member who I have shot Sporting and FITASC with in the past. For those of you that haven't seen it. You stand on a peg at 28 yards and you have 5 traps in front of you. The Helice birds are best described as orange bow ties with a white knot and they spin in the traps and then any one of them is released and they fly at any angle, across the ground or left, right, edge on, a bit like teal. You name it they do it. The idea is to shoot it before it gets to the outer ring and you have to split the target white from orange. It's really good fun. You get 20 targets and you shoot 2 at a time and then leave the peg. If you have 4 misses you are eliminated from the competition. Although in this country they don't follow that rule. At the world championships last year my friend missed the first 4 out and had to sit it out for 2 days until the team event. Anyway I missed my 4th target yesterday at 19 which I was not unhappy about, there's a lot of luck involved for me and I had a good run. Cat only missed one, technically he didn't miss it but he'd shot it outside of the outer ring so classed as a miss. I don't remember what everyone else scored, they were also high scores though put it that way. It's not as cheap as sporting but you can shoot to your pocket like every other clay discipline. And wednesdays practice at A1 are the best times to go and have a try. All in all a great day out.
  12. Meh!.........you'd both probably fight like girls anyway
  13. Ooooh fight fight fight fight............. Who's going to open the book on this?
  14. Too late, I’ve eaten 3 pieces of birthday cake already………… Mungler…………..<slap> ............................although you got me thinking, a fire in the office would signal the arrival of Firemen, which in my book can only be a good thing and quite frankly would be a marvellous birthday present. I’ll pop my credit card behind the bar of the PW Arms for everyone later

    Soups

French Onion Soup. It’s yummy. This is Delia’s recipe, and I know she’s a Gruffalo but I always find if you have something in mind to cook there’s a recipe for it in one of her books. 2lbs Onions sliced Couple of big pinches of Sugar 2-3 cloves of garlic 2 pints beef stock, it's got to be beef, chicken does not work. if I haven’t got any in the freezer I use Waitrose beef stock concentrate. Stock cubes are too salty so buy a decent concentrate for the larder. A big slug of dry white wine, probably a couple of glasses. In the pan fry the onions garlic and sugar in olive oil on a high heat until they get dark around the edges and are softening up nicely. Then turn the heat right down and leave them to cook for ½ an hour or so without the pan lid. Next turn the heat back up add the white wine and stir to pick up all the caramelised onion goo on the bottom of the pan and then add the beef stock. Bring up to the boil and then turn down to a very gentle simmer and cook for an hour and a half. Season it half way through cooking time and a bit more at the end if need be. I prefer to use white pepper with this soup. I just serve this with some crusty white bread. I tried freezing some once but it doesn’t work too well.
  16. 3 months is some achievement, well done Mungler. Although you’ve put a bit of weight on you’ve still got to be really pleased with yourself. A friend of mine said he thought he put on extra weight because everything tasted so much better once he’d stopped smoking, and he kept having second helpings. There must be an element of truth in that because I’ve heard other people say food tastes better. Anyway good luck at the gym.

    Slacker topic

Homemade chicken soup lovely....... We make lots of soup at home due to the fact that we get one of those organic vegetable box deliveries each week. More often than not we have masses of onions left so I do the Delia French Onion recipe. Very tasty. Soup in a tin has to be Heinz Tomato.
  18. Roast lamb and roasted spuds have me reaching for the gaviscon everytime B)
  19. Oooh now that's a good one. Although this morning I'm thinking of naming it, "fartoomuchtodrinklastnight" or "getmesomeresolve" or "acurryisneveragoodideaafterlotstodrink" B)
  20. That's a brilliant website SS. I’m still loving “Trappers Choice†and a quick search reveals there aren’t any other dogs called that so far. I didn’t search for any names that Lefty suggested I won't be owning the dog (I’ve enough trouble with the 3 mutts I’ve got at home) my cousins have just asked me to pick a name for their new arrival. They have 5 at the moment which they race. I’ve no idea about greyhound racing but when this one is old enough to race I’ll definitely be putting 50p on it. Rude boy LB Bubble and Squeak's a good one too. A friend suggested "Lil Bita Luck" and someone else said "Spartacus" all good names
  21. Trappers Choice is a good one Cranfield. I like that.
  22. Hmmm, guess I'll have to ask some questions then. I have no idea of the Sire and Dam names but I'm seeing my cousins later so I will get some info. They race their Greyhounds in Swindon and Oxford and sometimes Reading. Thanks SS great info I'll check the site out now. Jonsey P.S Lefty, you're so rude
  23. I'd have to ask the companies if I could use their name and I doubt they'd say yes really.....so I guess that would be out.
