I think it hasn't been dried off and cleaned properly before putting away. Looks like a little rust. I may be wrong.

There is no point in this blame game. I was one who lived through it in Yorkshire. Moved into my first house in the January with a single bucket of coal. Had to go to bed fully clothed to keep warm. There were no winners. Let's move on folk.

Self set metal trap seem to be the best. You can get them on the Internet for about £1 each. They last for years.

No definitely not. There was a successful prosecution for that technique.
