  1. maxxis for good offroad tyres good price too £540 for 5 balanced and fitted in 245/75/16
  2. No it's not a seal between boxes it's a seal on the box shafts themselves. Can put a bead of silicone on the face though
  3. Put in an offer on a Miller inverter, gonna take a gamble as they get a good review!
  4. No most of my work is outside, the TIG is for indoor stuff or in the backyard in a sheltered area when I'm building big things but the stick will be used outside mainly. Don't like working indoors if I can help it tbh
  5. I was going to get a Lincoln Electric Invertec 160t but backed out in the end, probably should have bought the ****** in hindsight but never mind eh Will send the seller a message to find out the bottom line as I can get a transformer TIG (Miller Synchrowave) for £500 then have enough left over for a dedicated small oil welder or a small MOSA petrol welder
  6. Ones popped up on ebay nearby http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Kemppi-MinarcTig-180-Welder-/290901277096?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item43bb1139a8&autorefresh=true so may put in an offer on that but still think a transformer one would be better tradition and all that! Most of my welding is MIG but I'll be doing more by stick and TIG now and scrapping the MIG side of my fabrication purely based on the fact that with a stick and TIG you get a much nicer looking weld IMO, yes mig can give a nice ripple pattern but you cant beat the fishscale on TIG
  7. Cant afford anything like that atm :( however that being said I'm not a fan of inverters compared to transformers due to the cost of repairing them so an oil cooled beast still appeals to me as most things can be fixed with some solder and a couple of £3 parts unlike the super detailed PCB's
  8. where are you and how big is it ? Needs to be semi portable if its a big one Or at least have huge leads
  9. As per title, 240v stick welder for use on site or petrol one Not bothered as long as its decent
  10. fair enough mines slowly getting there, just put in a new central crossmember yesterday so that the new larger R380/LT230 combo fits correctly No rush to get onto the fields though
  11. Which engine did you go with in the end ?
  12. ****** beaten to it :( Went off outside in the sun to work on my series haha
  13. Think this one is old style tbh, rope core would make more sense though from a safety point of view but gonna go the whole hog and get synthetic
  14. This is what I was on about when I said buy a good BIG second hand winch however you do have to know what you're looking for! On a side note, if you get a chance to test it let me know how that rope performs, don't want to use wire as its nasty when it snaps so if that ropes decent at the price I think I may be paying that shop a visit to buy some
  15. Just picked up an old husky winch for £155 bargains galore Will post up a pic so you can see the difference I was on about, these ones are just monsters! But they're probably 2/3rds the speed of the one you bought and weigh a lot more haha think its 51kg for this!
  16. That V8 in the bay is a good one, engine was a military rebuild and plate has date and build number on it on the rocker cover
  17. Looking at a big mig to join the ranks now that I've got a little more cash Ideally a Butters 400A single phase but something like a Murex Challenger 301 or other big beasts like that would work just as well
  18. Cos yer blind I just put in army winch anchor or ground anchor cant remember which but yeah And those are proper military ones not bad copies
  19. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Tirfor-Winch-Anchor-Ground-Anchor-Ex-Army-Original-Pins-Landrover-Anchor-100-/110974482452?pt=UK_Lifting_Moving_Equipment&hash=item19d6983814 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Tirfor-Winch-Anchor-Ground-Anchor-Ex-Army-Original-Pins-Landrover-Anchor-/261194388236?pt=UK_Lifting_Moving_Equipment&hash=item3cd066130c
  20. Army seem to use them so cant be all bad
  21. Throw it in the incinerator
  22. those are the army style pin ones, I like them as they don't take up much space never tried one though, waiting for my husky first
