In your options select the biggest image size. I.E. Large and finest. Then you have more pixels to crop into and it should hold up a bit better.

Are you using the largest option image size when taking the image?

Nice one. If you limit the ISO keep a weather eye on the shutter speed!

If you use an apeture favouring setting or if you are static on the bird feeder full manual i'm sure you will be able to select a lower ISO. By the sounds of it, if you could only get 500 or so at 3200 it was quite dark and you were probably going to struggle either way.

I must admit that now Markyate has re-opened under new management I now don't head for A1 as first choice.
