  1. Thank you Walker570.. As you suggested, I’ve now regoogled the powder manufacturers (correctly spelling ‘Hodgdons’ this time) and behold - discovered a previous PW thread detailing the use of Lil gun and Federal 209A primers, the down side is the use of plastic wads as opposed to the fibre wads I intend using. I imagine swapping wads would have some effect on pressure so an initial reduction in powder charge would be on the cards. I’ll speak to John at Folkestone Engineering tomorrow and seek his opinion... plus order the wads, shot and cases too.
  2. Folks - I’ve struggled to get SP3 powder and Fiocchi primers but managed to purchased some Hodgdon Lil’ Gun and Federal 209A’s and wondered what might be a suitable/safe powder charge to propel 11/16 (19grms) of 7’s to circa 1200 FPS. Info printed on the bottle refers to 1/2 ounce (14grms) loads with difficult to source American cases plus wads. I’m tempted to use new Fiocchi 3” cases with 2mm overpowder and 10mm fibre wads with crimp closure on the MEC. Any assistance would be much appreciated. Thanks - Salmo9
  3. 1P mobile.. how’s that for a starter..
  4. Ahh, looks like I’m not alone here.. Bin it is then. note to self - must read whole thread thoroughly before posting..
  5. Coincidentally, I’ve just upgraded my MEC 600 junior to 410.. The problem I’m having is resizing Eley’s 410 Trap and Extra Long cases, which I’ve got a stack of.. No such issues with Hull ‘high pheasant’ cases though.. Both Eley and Hull case bases are steel and 76mm too.. I’ve followed MEC’s advice about height of de-prime punch and resize ring but still no joy. Thought about case lube but are the Eley cases worth bothering with.? Thought I’d ******** the press up when trying to salvage the ‘resizing’ of the first Eley case.. Any assistance appreciated. Thanks..
  6. I’ll take this at the asking price, if still available.. Thanks - Salmo9
  7. Thanks guys, just bought one off eBay.. needs some TLC but I’m up for a bit of that..
  8. Looking to purchase a ‘jaffa orange’ canvas Mk 4 or 5 Force Ten tent please.. Thanks much - Salmo9
  9. Recently been using Cheddite 3” 18grm Euro 7.5’s.. Seem punchy enough and drop the birds. Can’t find any online velocity data though, plus the wad is advertised as ‘Bior’ which sounds agreeable.. Appears to be a good cartridge, perhaps a Fiocchi clone or vice versa..??
  10. Nice one Stonepark - as previously requested, I've now weighed the powder from an Eley Extralong Magnum 410: Weight: 11.8 grains of non spherical powder (believe SP3 to be uniform spherical) this powder looks more 'gritty' and angular if that makes sense. Pellet count was 165 pieces of no.6 Hoping this info is useful. Thanks much.. Thanks Stu - didn't even know these existed. Appreciate your response..
  11. Thanks Stonepark - I'll have this information to you this evening.. Many thanks for the detailed response..
  12. I'll make a few calls tomorrow and see if there's any local availability for the Hull shells. Had some issues with the high pheasant slab I first bought with occasional mis-fires with the plastic wad sticking in the choke as if there wasn't any powder charge and just the primer pushing the load up the barrel. Very disconcerting at the time but probably a rarity.. I've also been told on a number of occasions how punchie the Fiocchi shells are but sourcing them is a bit of an issue round here, plus I think they're only available with a plastic wad.. Thanks for your feedback, much appreciated.. Thanks Stu - excuse my ignorance but who manufactures the 'nsi' shell.?
  13. GSB146 powder - I think so.. Bought a slab of eley fibre 6's about three weeks ago and another slab of fibre 7's last week, new stock I'm told.. Might have to return the 7's and swap for Eley 3" trap plastic 7.5 and use them on the clays. Would love to pattern these fibre shells but it's blowing a hoolie and chucking it down here for the foreseeable.. Thanks to those who've responded. Any further info appreciated..
  14. Been using Hull 3" high pheasant 19grm 6's plastic wad with good effect through half and three quarter chokes. Now shifted to Eley 3" fourten magnum 18grm 6's fibre in a bid to save the planet and the wheels have dramatically come adrift. Don't seem to connect with those pheasants at all now and confidence has plummeted. Before the patterning starts, just wondered if any one could offer some sound, fast-track advice, say a shift in chokes or revert back to a plastic wad.? Thanks much - Salmo9. PS - Syndicate colleagues are advising the usually - ditch the 410 and dust off the twelve... Never..
  15. Ill get my coat if I'm wrong but didn't Westminster save Scotland back in the 1690's.? Something to do with a failed ' Darien scheme' which effectively emptied Scotland's coffers. Isn't this enough to remind wee Nichola that she and her party are forever in Westminsters debt.?
  16. And another Yildiz 410 vote here.. Did splash out on a hand engraved jobbie with wood to die for and its a joy to use. As mentioned by Walker570, it's lightweight - mines 5lb 7oz and built on a scaled 410 action, what's there not to like. Plus, knocked down some fine pheasants with 19gm sixes too.. I'll not be returning to a clunky, heavy 12b..
  17. Well, I'm a believer... This TSS product has major potential for those 410 users who've turned their backs on heavy, clunky twelve bore shotties albeit, at a price. According to Clay & Game website, they're currently out of T18..
  18. Yeah, I've been pondering about using 10grms of size 9, T18 and mixing with 8grms of size 6 lead to be able to push the typical 410 load beyond it's current effective range, especially for those tall driven pheasant. Might even be able to squeeze it all into a 2.5 case.. I understand our new world cousins are right up there pushing boundaries with 28b and 410 using T18 plus matrixing with steel too. I will admit though, it's early days for me with this adventure..
  19. Barry has clips on YouTube showing how to use the Survival reloader kit.. Quite detailed too. I fear my own problems will be sourcing powder and primers. A road trip to Yorkshire beckons, me thinks..
  20. Regarding the 410 survival reloader kit.. just got one. Shipped from the states with no issue. Barry dealt with all the relevant paperwork and kept me informed of progress.. Kit looks and feels impressive. So all I need to do now is source appropriate powder etc, for some small scale production. Can't wait to get started..
  21. Does anyone have one for sale or perhaps know of one sitting in their local RFD.? Really looking for full Acanthus scroll engraving with well figured timber plus reasonably priced too.. fussy, I know. Thanks much - Salmo9.
  22. Hi guys - apologies for belated response was shooting yesterday.. Actual meeting was a telephone call with an HR colleague.. Initial pleasantries were dealt with then they'd enquired if I'd understood the reasoning behind their changes to my contract. I should add that the move within the company included a pay rise, of which I have supporting documentation plus they've been paying it too, however the business now want to renege on this pay rise citing an 'error' had occurred and want to revert me back to my old salary of which I've objected to. HR informed me too, that this reduction in salary will happen at the start of next year whether I sign onto this 'appointment' or not.. At this point things got a little heated.. I stated that I'm not prepared to sign and insisted that the company need to maintain this higher level of pay until such times as I either sign said document or they terminate my contract.. HR disagreed.. we agreed to disagree and they will now prepare my case for further action, which will no doubt be termination of contract with twelve weeks notification, or if my management intervene then it could be 'business as usual' and I'd be a content little worker again.. Funnily, It's all gone a bit quiet on my management front though and I'm beginning to wonder if the boss has been told not to engage with me unless absolutely necessary.. Or is it just a coincidence..? Cheers - Salmo9.
  23. Thanks agains guys, especially grrclark's response, very detailed and thoughtful.. I'll be proceeding to my HR meeting this morning with some trepidation buoyed by wise counsel..
