  5. Yeh its a shame when they do things like that to the old lakes, same thing happened to Darenth and the yately complex they all turn into money pit's in the end !
  6. Possibly, met a few people over the years lol Cracking pub ! proper carp anglers pub, i wonder if they still got all the pic's on the wall's ??
  7. Used to chat with a few of the savay boy's when we fished harefield, we all used to meet in the horse and barge. Good old day's eh !!
  8. Same old story, once mary died all the glory hunters moved onto conningbrook then when two tone died they all went there seperate way's, no doubt they'll all end up on the next lake that turn's up a record fish.
  9. No doubt the do-gooder's will say its all made up just to make them look bad !! You know how it goes if we dare to mention em we're all racist's OBVIOUSLY !!
  10. I remember a few years back a good pal of mine Jock white got beaten quite badly by pykie's on wraysbury, they never took any of his gear it was'nt a theft it was over an insident that happened with the pykie kid's earlier in the day but he spent 4 days in hospital over it, Sadly that was the last time he fished there !
  11. lol i'm sure thats not the case mate, as Karpman said big fish are more readily available now than they ever was ! over the years i've had loads of fish big and small but for me personally i consider any fish caught from a hard water much more of an achievment than a 30/40lb fish caught from a mickey mouse comercial water.
  12. I left in 2004 mate shortly after Geoff bower's left, Crab and Tutti would have been the flavour combo do you know what the base mix was ? PB are still trading however they have gone downhill quite a bit and as a result have downsized to a small premises, if you can remember the base mix you had i could tell you how to put some together !
  13. Taking carp off the top with a fly rod is a crack
  14. Spent years carp fishing ran the bait dept at premier baits for a few years as well, still do quite a bit now but no where near as serious as i used to be, used to fish all round the colne valley, darenth valley conningbrook etc only really fish my local club waters nowday's, never really been into the whole foriegn fish thing but totally undertsand why lad's do it.

  17. Once again MONOFILAMENT DOES STRETCH ! any angler or comercial fisherman will tell you the same. It seems to me that you are the one who's getting angry because the faults i have mentioned DO happen on a regular basis anybody who walks the shoreline WILL have seen bundles of monofilament net washed up on the shore. A net suspended below the surface within close proximity of the shore IS a danger to other people using the beach even if you dont agree !
  18. lol yes irresponsible when done on the shoreline making it easy for other shore users to come into contact with them. I'm not saying ban netting for personal use just not from the shore ! You would'nt shoot your gun at the public so how is it safe to net in front of them ?
  19. Almost definately ! but this dosent change the fact that shore netting is dangerous to wildlife and the public !
  20. I'm not saying that you personally dont comply with regulations, this is not a dig at you as a person ! To say that nets dont stretch (reducing the diameter) or that nets dont rip is ludicras, i see lads mending ripped nets every day on the harbour. And to say that people dont use fyke nets either is also ludicras some people will use whatever they can !
  21. Season's dont stop people doing it there are many regulations that people dont adhere to. I have found most types of net's used on the shoreline from fyke nets to trammel nets i've even seen crude home made nets tethered between two scafold poles
  22. Monofilament DOES stretch However i was talking about the net as a whole ! if you have a square mesh net and you pull it tight the squares become diamonds reducing the diameter of the square causing undersize fish to be caught. Regardless of how far the anchors are buried if the net rip's away from them it will drift !
