  1. "Blagging" Now that's a man of my very heart! :P I have repaid the favour As stated before Kennym, good luck with the gun am sure you will have years of pleasure with it! regards turk101
  2. Boomstick, i love your replies, very knowledgeable you are. Totally agree with the above, I have said it many times on here, i have had both the beretta and the benelli for me the benelli is the one, i absolutely love it, would'nt swap it for any other gun. that's only my opinion though, so as above what suit's me might not suit you and vice versa. give them both a try and good luck with whatever your choice turns out to be. regards turk101
  3. Wow Anser2 you are a lucky guy and good for you too! I agree with your post in most, but disagree with some, I call my farmer and tell him when i'm coming to shoot and which field or fields i intend to be on, if i need to change i will inform him again. at the same time if any1 else is due to shoot he will tell them what fields i am on, so they shoot another field, in my eyes this can be very helpful as it does keep the birds moving somewhat. this will happen vice versa and things can move along smoothly for every1. As to the pheasant being KING i think that is pretty much the same every where now as there is huge amounts of money invovled in the shooting of them! correct me if i'm wrong (which i probably am ) regards turk101
  4. Interesting variety off DOG food. Just out of curiousty how much does your bags cost and what quantity do you buy? I buy 17 and 20 kilos at a cost of between £9-11. Before any1 thinks i'm tight i'm not. Snoop just happen's to get on really well with WAGG I have used all the top names Eukanuba, pedigree chum etc: Regards turk101
  5. as cranners has said, been on here before, bit like shooting in trafalgar square Why are ferals so dim?

  8. Hi all, I have a lot of videos that i have downloaded from my mobile to my pc. Question is how do i upload them in the video's section Is it straight forward like uploading a photo or is there much more to it? Do i have to goto a hosting site like photobucket or youtube? sorry if it's a basic thing to most but for me it's a little complex regards turk101
  9. Hi all, As above question. I feed mine WAGG (working dog) dry food . Occasionally i will mix in a can of tinned food or his favourite Tuna . He also ends up most nights with my daughters left overs, (he loves speghetti bolognaise). Never done him any harm, he is fit as a fiddle, lean and mean and mostly muscle, but thats just his breed. he's a GSP (german shorthaired pointer), 5 years old. regards turk101
  10. What is it with people on this site Every1 seems to be professors in english grammer Give it a rest guys, it actually makes me . Let's try helping others, if not just stand back, read and enjoy. not every1 is so well educated. thanks turk101
  11. Hi Mike, Bring back the memories of when Snoop was little. He would whine all night for the attention. I put an old tshirt that i had been wearing and it helped a bit,(comfort) Also they say having a bit of music or radio on in the background helps (never actually tried it though). With regards to the main point, soiling in his crate, now I was discussing this with the mrs, because i could'nt remember what we did, he was excellent in the sense of been house trained from very litle. (probably just lucky) But this is what we did, we left the crate door open at night and had newspaper at the garden door he soon got the hang of it. after a while we removed the paper and he started to scratch at the door, or seek attention by whining, let him out job done. It probably helped that i worked nights as well hope this has helped. turk101 ps: it will all be well worth it in the end, the first couple of years are the hardest, but stick at it you will have a friend for life.
  12. Hi mate and welcome to the site. I personally don't see any problem shooting the barn, you have written permission etc. if any of the pigeons happen to fall the side of the vets, i would just leave the air rifle in the barn and go retrieve the pigeon. this is just my own personal opinion and i'm sure some1 will correct me if i'm wrong, but legally i would say you are doing nothing wrong. hope this helps regards turk101
  13. Is ther a close season for ferreting or for using the dogs? sorry if i sound a bit dim not really my territory, so can't make out i know regards turk101
  14. Mate these are excellent photo's, talk about telling the story, the pictures tell a 1000 words. Very professional photo's, you must be well into the photography. anyway once again excellent! i love your posts. regards turk101
  15. Why not? I have used shell and sillos, full body, shells and sillos. each to there own. trial and error. I mix and match all the time not always to the best of results, but if you don't try , you won't know. regards turk101
  16. Here we go, another do gooder! There is not to much difference in posting a bag of hares, as to posting a good bag of pigeon or coming to think of it a good mixed bag of perhaps 100+ pheasants, partridges etc. The anti's will look for any excuse, comments like yours are what get a reaction. I enjoy shooting, have the upmost respect for all quarry and enjoy posting my photo's for other members to enjoy my experiences and vice versa. If these sort of photo's offend you don't look or comment, there are a lot of replies and most are of a good nature. regards turk101
  17. What's wrong with asking? there maybe some1 in his area that wants a shooting buddy!
  18. I like the tesco's kick version well worth the money. Has any1 tried this with JD. Absolutely wicked
  19. shabbyshot, i understand your point but unfortunately not every1 has the same luck and contacts. i have been very lucky lately and have recieved some excellent farms to shoot on for free, but it has not always been like that i have paid £250 a year to shoot pigeons and game. unfortunately not every1 is that confident to just knock at doors to ask for permission.i guess if you don't ask you don't get! remember pigeon shooting is very popular now more the ever, so there is only so much land available,i have also found it is quite a clicky communityand feel you have to have some contacts or your not really excepted. anyway just my opinion. regards turk101
  20. with regards to the screaming it is true sometimes they do, but i have shot many rabbits that have screamed and unfortunately winged many pigeons, i would say it's fairly similar. also i think any1 that has shot pheasant's before would have no problem in shooting a hare, as pheasants do no crop damage as far as i know. i would have thought hares did some crop damage, i may be wrong though. We got to keep 1 per person then you could buy them for £4 each. turk101
  21. hi all, i will try and answer as many of the questions in the replies as i can, so may post more than once! 1st one is it was not in ESSEX, funny enough it was norfolk! catridges that i used were a mix of between some heavy 40g size 3's to 36g size 5's, i also stopped a couple stone dead with size 6 32g. what i think must happen at these farms is the land is made suitable for the hares to live and breed safely all year round, this is my opinion, we walked carrot fields with the carrots still left in the ground, lots of forest areas with long grass and hideing places for the hares. 1 thing i'm certain about is that probably double, maybe even treble this amount got away. these are not shot at until next year, so there is definately a big hare population in NORFOLK. Recipes i will post up a special that my mum and dad cook, it's kind of like a stew type thing but with loads of onions. lovely As for people not seeing many hares in there areas, perhaps they don't walk up that much, hares at times will sit almost until you step on them and will sit in many areas of the fields that as general pigeon shooters you would not visit/walk. (this is not meant as critisism) a friend of mine was decoying pigeons and went to pick a ***** pigeon not much further than 20yards from his decoys, a hare bolted, which he shot. i have seen many hares in essex. anyway thats it for now folks turk101
  22. I have'nt seen that many in my lifetime let alone 1 day, **** it was amazing though. would you believe this is an annual thing and that is the average total bag every year!!!
  23. Hi all I was invited to the above some time last year but it got cancelled because of the snow begining of feb, so was re-scheduled for saturday just gone. Did'nt really know what to expect, but i must admit it has to be one of the best experiences of my life, and that's no joke either. This was reasonably well organised, started out at about 9am done 4 drives/walks all together, the buzz was absolutely unreal really really enjoyed it, the weather was nice and the company was excellent. I done all the drives/walks next to my dad, brother-in-law and my shooting buddy. So we were always four in a row although the lines could be up to 20. We did not stop laughing all day, absolutely brilliant. anyway as you are not allowed semi-auto's i had to use my sons o/u baikal (which i had last used 20 years ago) and my dad used my brothers o/u baikal double trigger, now this is were the fun really started my dad has shot only a semi-auto in over 40 years of shooting, so every time he missed with the first barrel he could not find the second trigger we thought this was hilarious see my dad cursing his luck and some1 else finishing what he missed. Anyhow total for the day was 352 hares , 10 or so woodpigeon. my total was 6, my brother-in-law and shooting buddy had 7 each, and my poor old dad had 3. As i said though what an experience! heres a few photo's. enjoy turk101
  24. Well done Nick, looks like a day was had. How did cat and garyb get on? I see nothing has changed with your shooting hitting the hard shot's missing the supposed easy ones still the same with me too anyway well done again. turk101
