  1. Check the barrel is tight (think that was my problem on a different rifle)
  2. That's good news, although not for your wallet!
  3. Tell him the air rifles are locked up - shows you have a responsible attitude. You'll be fine, they wouldn't grant you an interview if there was a reason you weren't going to get a licence
  4. How does one get permission from a public road? Yes, really. But you edited out some of his context
  5. How can you be sure it's 2&1/2"?
  6. Can you get low powered hunting ammo for .22LR?
  7. I'm just checking I'm not making a huge mistake. Does seem very long but a gentleman's gun...
  8. A friend of mine is selling a shotgun that he doesn't use since buying a pair of Aya's. It's an E.M. Reilly SBS box lock 12 bore, non ejector (which is fine) but with 30" Arthur Conyers barrels. He had it in auction recently with a reserve of £400 which it failed to reach. He says I can have it for £350 which is cheaper than anything similar on Guntrader, although they don't have replacement barrels. It fits me, which is unusual, although the stock extension isn't perhaps as sympathetic as one might otherwise want, having a bright orange buttplate on top of a block of wood which in no way matches the rest of the stock. It's nicely sanded in, mind, and might benefit from refinishing. Any thoughts? I have one picture of the engraving if it helps
  9. There was another rifle on there for £100, a CZ452, I think but the advert stated £300. This one doesn't actually state another price, I wonder if it's a genuine mistake (or perhaps it's a jilted wife selling a beloved possession!!)

    which gun?

Any 12ftlb gun would be fine for rabbits and corvids. Not sure you'll get a decent PCP within budget but you could pick up a great springer. I really like the look of the Air Arms Prosport but have always lusted after the Air Arms TX200HC
  11. There's only one screw holding the barrel/forend on - it wasn't perfectly tight
  12. Should be possible to get a replacement spring - I might be able to wind you one on the lathe
  13. I have a friend coming round this evening to go lamping and thought I'd better make sure my .22LR (Anschutz 525) was in zero. No matter what I tried, different ammo, mod on/off, I couldn't get anything resembling a group at 50 yards. Now, I know my rifle isn't the newest and I wasn't expecting clover leaf groups, but I know I'm capable of shooting 1" groups - today I was struggling to hit a 6 inch target... After about 80 rounds, I eventually realised the barrel was slightly loose (I'd stripped the rifle after I used it last)... Too dark now to check that the zero is correct so we'll just have to use his tonight
  14. Cheers! It looks a bit yellow in that picture but in real life it's a nicer shade of brown. Edges are grooved, saddle stitched, chamfered and sealed - overkill really but it was therapeutic to do

  16. Try some penetrating oil, Plusgas or similar

  18. I need a new recoil spring for my Anschutz 525 but can't find them in stock anywhere. Was wondering if anyone had a 10/22 they could measure the spring from on the off chance that it's compatible?
  19. Glad to help. It gave me a use for the leather I was given a while ago on BCUK
  20. I'm guessing a military bullet with a steel core will go through better than a lead bullet. I'm now going to paint some thinner sheet steel white and use the earth backstop to catch the bullets. Funnily enough, I tried wrapping some paper round the steel plate but when I hit it with a .22LR, the sideways splatter of the bullet shredded the paper all round and it fell off. I reckon some scrap domestic goods could provide a useful source of white steel - satisfying clang and easy to see where one hit Maybe when the MOT runs out on the Mondeo I'll get meself a shootin' car
  21. Thanks, buddy. To add to my flimsy defence, there wasn't an aiming point on the target, so nothing to really group on! If someone would care to lend me a car door I'd gladly test it...
  22. Can I have second refusal if he doesn't PM you?
  23. If all they want is 20 rounds and a letter I'd hang on for that. That said, if you can't shoot on your permission until February, where are you planning on shooting these foxes?
