  1. Wasnt a particularly difficult shot from about 2" range - it was a young one that I presume my dog had caught and shook about a bit. Was lying quite calmly in my field but still alive. The dogs ignored it as it wasn't moving around. Kindest thing to do was to make sure it was properly dead and I've thrown it into the hedge where I'm hoping something other than my dogs will deal with it. Subsequently looked up "rabbit in shock" and found a thread on Mumsnet where they all said to take it to a vet. Would a vet charge more than 9p to put it down, assuming I can get a free lift next time?
  2. I've only had one lesson so probably won't get over 58/60...
  3. Don't know the range of a BT speaker...
  4. What time does this start? Does one have to book a time? I'll probably get laughed out of the venue anyway
  5. http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/9080100.htm?CMPID=GS001&_$ja=cgid:8710598102%7Ctsid:41408%7Ccid:177978422%7Clid:47486554382%7Cnw:g%7Ccrid:32474850182%7Crnd:20558391112029926879%7Cdvc:t%7Cadp:1o4 Thought filling one of these with distressed bunny noises and putting in a suitable place might be more effective than trying to squeak them to me
  6. Could it not be an antique and thus exempt? If the pins are missing it's not going to fire anyway
  7. We'll travel in the same helicopter - no point being extravagant for the sake of it. I'd heard that they weren't actually gunmakers but it doesn't really bother me - at the end of the day, it's an attractively engraved metal tube.
  8. It is. Not expensive, either. I've only fired it once (missed the pigeon...) but chances are it's over 100 years old (apart from newer barrels). Once my invitation to shoot the Balmoral Estate comes through (same envelope as my OBE, I expect) I won't feel embarrassed getting it out, until they see what a dreadful shot I am - at least they'll be distracted that my wellies aren't the "right" brand and my Range Rover looks more like a Mondeo... I'm guessing that would cost more than I paid for the gun, though. Changing the colour might help considerably - or I could strap a leather extension over it?
  9. Apart from the undesirable stock extensions, this gun is frankly gorgeous. The engraving is superb, even the screws hidden under the forend are engraved
  10. Ah, you missed the bit where it was rebarrelled. Unless my eyesight is deceiving me, this shows a chamber length of 2 3/4" What does BNP stand for? I'm assuming I haven't bought a Neo-Nazi gun
  11. Well, it's a 2 3/4"... I can tell because the lights are good in my lounge
  12. Just been using some cheap Winchester T22 - shotgun is a pretty good analogy!
  13. ...and a dreadful photo but it's in Got to be better than a soft case in the back of the car. I've left space where I could put ammunition but thought it best not to keep it in the same box. Might fit a cleaning kit in there
  14. If you can wrap it in rubber (pond liner for example) and then get a set of Stilsons on it, it should come apart but try the penetrating oil first
  15. WD40 is not a penetrating lubricant. Plusgas is and there are loads of different ones out there
  16. Isn't the high seat upside down?
  17. I seem to recall it was 2 3/4 but I'll check on Friday
  18. Check the barrel is tight (think that was my problem on a different rifle)
  19. That's good news, although not for your wallet!
  20. Tell him the air rifles are locked up - shows you have a responsible attitude. You'll be fine, they wouldn't grant you an interview if there was a reason you weren't going to get a licence
  21. How does one get permission from a public road? Yes, really. But you edited out some of his context
  22. How can you be sure it's 2&1/2"?
  23. Can you get low powered hunting ammo for .22LR?
