You might get a free gnarly hand shandy too! That made me chuckle.
  2. I’m not sure of you are complimenting your 41yo self or insulting your 14yo memory
  3. Yes, the sheer volume of air movement will have a noticeable visible output. In simple terms, if we think about our visible breath on a cold day, the bigger the sook the greater the puff and a longer lasting cloud of visible exhaled condensed reek. Prob’s not something ever described as such in a physics lecture right enough.
  4. Oh you knowledgeable expert, but i read an article on www.headjammedupmyratherwilfullyignorantarse.com that said it was the government what did it, so i choose to disbelieve your science. You shill’
  5. Oh Freemen of the Land are great too. Every seem is rich in gold. Don’t you sometimes think it would be easier to be unthinkingly cynical and thick rather than having to confront the realities of the laws of physics and the land. So much easier to consume the comforting laudanum of faceless blogs and peddlers of wash.
  6. A subtly baited and rather mischievously set hook

The infrequency of use of mine is because i’d rather be out shooting or tinkering too. As I said, a product of money burning a hole in my pocket and let’s say youthful exuberance, or also known as stupid spontaneous asshat affliction. It is proper good quality though.
  8. The speed at which my boat went the magnetic pole had moved between the time I started and finished. My boat was known as the “grow bag” because it went as fast as a tomato grows. With my boring swinging knowledge I could have navigated it around the world, but i would have died of old age first.
  9. As is his obligation. Some still don’t though. I have conducted several due diligence assessments, prior to private equity investment, since 2016 and every single one has considered post Brexit preparedness. Having a final answer was not appropriate, but being able to demonstrate a process of ongoing evaluation and potential opportunism/mitigation was essential. On the theme of Private Equity investment the UK has had more investment, post the Brexit vote than France and Germany combined. I find that hugely reassuring.
  10. A great description. I imagine that having a philosophical discussion with a seal would be more fruitful and more rewarding than trying to reason with a flat earther, but sometimes it’s fun to juggle live idiot grenades.
  11. I have nothing to say other than I’m envious. I wish a couple of young ladies would ask me to prove i’m old enough! One of the most endearing things about going for a beer in the USA is the potential of being asked to prove your age, it’s rejuvenating and i’m not even ‘that’ old. It is worth a trip there for that alone. *Breaths out a sigh of youthful contentment at the thought*
  12. 😂😂 I forgot about rhumb lines. I did study “compass swinging” at one point, although when I say study I was in the room when someone waffled on about it. Some of our professional mariners will understand it I daresay, or of course they just use electronic gadgets like everyone else. It is like nailing jelly to the wall. I have to say the flat earth gadgies have the most coordinated and comprehensive defence and counter argument resources ever. Political strategists and wannabe revolutionaries should pay attention.
  13. No fun, bait the hook and draw them out. I don’t know if it’s genuine or an apocryphal tale, but the flat earth society website was reputed to have described the society as the global body for flat earth believers. I so very very hope that it is true.
  14. Mercator and gnomic presentation and shortest circular routes, etc. Then add in all your ETOPS malarky. You’re welcome to it. Was the chemtrail lecture “Deny everything and don’t inhale the microballooms”. Lesson over.

I have an infrared sauna cabin in a spare bedroom, it's a lovely place to spend some time and poach oneself without the real oppressive heat of a traditional sauna. I think I last used it 3 years ago... Bought in a moment of annual bonus euphoria probably 12 years ago, used very enthusiastically for 6 months and with massive infrequency since. If i had put that bonus into an ISA i'd have many more pennines and much more space in my spare room. If you really do want a sauna consider the infrared options as well, mine is a Physiotherm product and the quality is genuinely excellent. Genuinely do think how much you really would use it though.
  16. Do the forward facing windows not have the spherical aberration built in like the side windows do? A rarified place indeed the cockpit must be to see the world as it truly, flatly is.
  17. There are a bucket load of very successful businesses that have been sacrificed for political ideology or blind adherence to rules no matter how stupid they might be. We are watching the systemic destruction of thousands of them just now as part of our Covid response for goodness sake. If it were not for the limelight draw of a Brexit headline this story would ordinarily make the rarely read local press mid-paper business column.
  18. You're of course completely right in that there was nothing definite to plan for, however any business owner or management team worth their salt should have considered the possible eventualities and forecast/planned/budgeted for that, much of which may have been planning for downsides. Every budget/forecast has to consider an element of the unknown and making reasoned assumptions of what may happen. Somethings like Covid19 drive a wrecking ball through even the best planning scenario, but the fall out of Brexit was reasonably predictable within a slightly broader spectrum than 'normal'. The reality however, and this cannot be overlooked, is that an awful lot of businesses seem to thrive despite the remarkable inability of their owners/management teams to be able to plan or forecast anything, so i'm not at all surprised that a lot of businesses will be crying out right now about how they just didn't know what it all might mean.
  19. Do you mean stuff sprayed from aircraft with the principle purpose of spraying stuff, i.e. crop dusting or silver nitrate cloud seeding? In which case then absolutely without a shadow of doubt stuff can be and is sprayed from planes and there is no attempt to disguise and conceal that. However, if you mean in the context of everyday contrails, i.e. combustion condensation and sublimation to ice particles suspended in the atmosphere as a by product of aircraft propulsion then yes "chemtrails" are a conspiracy.
  20. We choose to follow the loose definition of professional as being derived from the individuals principle occupation or profession One's professionalism in their role is somewhat different, however I like your style and approach. Do you keep your stash of microballoons in your blow up Rudolph and parp them into the exhaust of the engine when no one is looking?
  21. Nobody ever would trust a BoJo statement on anything at all as being the absolute truth. He is an inveterate liar, it is an innate part of his character.
  22. Gordon, it is a curious phenomenon of Scottish politics right now that it is absolutely defined by the question of independence. If you are pro Scexit then it is a vote for the SNP, or if you are particularly 'special' the Green Party, no matter what else. The output of domestic, every day politics and governance is overlooked, every indiscretion or screw up is dismissed out of hand in favour of the bigger (own) goal. In some ways it is not dissimilar to the Tory landslide that was predominantly a result of Brexit beliefs in the northern regions, albeit aided by the Corbyn factor. The other phenomenon of Scottish politics just now is that the people of Scotland generally believe themselves to be politically well engaged and informed, despite objective scrutiny suggesting otherwise, but because they think they are the belief systems are even deeper rooted. A bizarre irony in the more informed people think they are the more gullible they demonstrate themselves to be. On both sides of the argument. A final truism of politics in general is that that those who feel the most aggrieved are always the most vocal and there are no heavier shoulder chips in the whole world than the iScotland ones. Nobody ever screamed the house down to demonstrate their ambivalence or indifference. Quiet agreement is rather well named.
  23. I suspect there are quite a few who share the more, shall we say recherché* and non mainstream beliefs. * Far fetched, tenuous, particularly chosen.
  24. The most pertinent point made as yet. What surprises me, and not just in respect to this thread, but to all threads/discussions where people start to profess that they are "not scientists/experts/knowledgeable in this area" and then go on to challenge the people who are obviously expert in these things and plainly refuse to believe what the experts tell them. In the context of this thread Jaymo is an expert in respect to aviation given that he is a professional aviator. In the context of contrails in general, outside of this thread, every single respectable physicist ever will give a scientific explanation of what contrails are and why they form and there are multiple articles explaining such. Somehow articles on conspiracy websites written by numerous self professed non-experts seem to carry more weight. Quite beguiling. The answer strikes me as being remarkably obvious, believe the expert and not some attention seeking walloper who gets off by writing a big load of wash on the internet.
