Couple of things you can do , use sunglasses instead of goggles, sealskin socks are worth their weight in gold, waterproof/warm. You can also use rubber/surgical gloves over normal gloves to keep your hands dry/warm, or get some sealskin gloves. good thermal hat. hope he enjoys his hols. Ps take a small first aid kit with plasters for blisters etc, deepheat spray, and a few ibuprofen/paracetamol

Our washing machine is on 24/7 i`m sure my missus is OCD , Anyway sounds like the bushes to me it`s an easy DIY job i`ve done it myself loads of times, just google how to change washing machine bushes and follow the youtube video. Good luck
