  1. Been happy with my Browning 525 for 2 years, but looking to upgrade to something a bit nicer next year. As well as the 725 I want to take a look at Miroku. Can anyone explain how the Sporter range works - M38, MK60, MK70. Which is the best? My budget is about 2700 and would like a nice grade wood if possible.
  2. Shame for Amber, was the whole thing online only? Poor show by the BBC if so.
  3. There's one near me in Bicester, the food is really good and yes it's connected to the one in Bangkok.
  4. My advice would be just take your time and enjoy it. Don't make the mistake I made when I went out for the first time on my own with licence and brand new Browning. I was so keen and over eager that I totally forgot to put in my ear protection on the first stand! Hell of a bang and ears ringing for the next stand or two. A ground with time delay is pretty straight forward to use, but I think going round with someone else is preferable. Either way prepare to get hooked!
  5. AGL is worth a look, it's improved from the Broomhills days. Not cheap but if you take membership the clay prices come down and make it worth while if you go regularly. Also A1 Shooting is about 30 mins drive from Tring. http://a1sg.co.uk
  6. Good old Gil Ash, I do enjoy his videos.
  7. Just fitted extended Teagues to my Browning 525, 3/8 in both barrels as recommended by a friend who is a very good competition shooter. It's between 1/2 and 1/4 so I guess it makes sense. At my skill level i'll doubt i'll notice any difference, but I can see how having both the same is one less thing to think about.
  8. Can solo shooters turn up or do you need to be in a group?
  9. keep meaning to get along here as pretty local to me. Does it get very busy ?
  10. I had the option of buying 1000 of these at a special price (£155), but plumped for new Velocity Plus instead. There wasn't much difference in the price, but next time I think i'll give the Eley's a go as feedback seems pretty good.
  11. I became a member at AGL last weekend. The ground has improved hugely since I visited there many years ago. Prices are a bit steep, but membership does bring the clay costs down considerable so worth while if you go regularly. Membership can also be used at their other ground, Oxfordshire Shooting School, which is like a mini version of AGL. This is a nice ground too, with tidy new stands and is currently undergoing an expansion plan with improved clubhouse, facilities and more stands coming apparently. I will be splitting my time between the two grounds for practice so for me membership is pretty good value.
  12. I use claymate delay but how do you release the second clay automatically? I push A or B, 3 beeps and then it releases. I then do the same for the second bird, am I doing it wrong?
  13. So true, before I knew it I had blasted through 150 carts in over an hour. At AGL at 40p a pop that wasn't funny! I think the key is I need to slow down, take my time a bit more and have a break maybe half way through.
  14. How popular is this with PW users? I've been doing it more recently as my shooting pal works most weekends during the summer. I find it a bit hit and miss (pun intended!) to be honest. My performance seems to be worse when shooting alone, not sure if trapping for yourself causes loss of focus and it's just another thing to fiddle with and think about. I also find I tend to rush through my shots as there's no natural break between stands. Any strategies or tips for solo shooters?
  15. Okay all sounds good. So as I undertsand it each stand is manned, you don't have someone following you around from stand to stand?
  16. it's sounding less appealing by the minute!
  17. Okay i'd better give them a call. this corkage business sounds worrying!
  18. Was thinking about dropping in one evening on the way home from work. Thur open till 8pm, 50 bird practice £17. Anyone ever tried it? It says no need to book, just turn up. I'll probably be solo so are they caddied rounds at EJ?
  19. I had a very good lesson last week with Terry at A1. It was a couple of hours well spent! Terry is a nice, easy-going chap who know's what he's talking about. By the end of the lesson I felt I had definately learnt a few things that would make a big difference to my shooting. The hard job will be keeping the bad habits at bay without Terry by my side to advise! Anyway look forward to another lesson soon, thanks Terry, maybe next time you can tell me all about this baking business?
  20. proof or no proof whether it's damaging, its just not worth the risk is it? Some people smoke and drink through pregnancy and proudly claim their kids turned out ok, but it doesn't mean we should take their advice.
  21. Once you've had Mac you won't go back! I've used macs professionally for over 20 years and they are superbly made computers. Some say they are too expensive but you get what you pay for. In all that time I've rarely had any hardware issues. A well maintained Mac will serve you well for many years.
  22. Fairly new to the sport so haven't visted many grounds. Mostly go to Sporting Targets which does have a few sheltered stands.
  23. oh, I'm sporting so sounds like I'm in for a drenching. Thanks for the heads up.
  24. Due to head down to A1 shooting ground for the first time tomorrow so not familiar with the layout. The forecast is currently heavy rain I just wondered how much of it is undercover. Can anyone that's been before advise?
  25. Yeah that's how mine looks. Thanks for the pic to confirm.
