  1. That makes it 1131 plus 41 since my last post in March computer probs and some TGB's stole my .177 so slumming it now with a Gamo Phox in .22 good value and has accounted for 18 of the little beggars over the last 3 weeks. 1172
  2. I've been offline due to computer probs but need to add another 24 since I last posted = 344
  3. To get that wet it must have been really hungry I think that us making extra effort at the moment is going to pay dividends later on in the year nai them before they breed ! Shame not to meet up last night we will rectify that soon though.
  4. Hi Longblower, the Foresrty Commisson situation is more involved and complex the more you learn about it. Short verson is that the FC is only interested in trees. Grey squirrels strip bark off trees which means that the profit from selling those trees when it is time to harvest the trees is reduced. So the FC don't want greys in their woods from mid April to September as this is the time that most damage is caused. However they are not bothered if the wood is infested with greys from October to March!!! They also have a problem with having Reds in their woods because when it is time to clear fell the wood, people protest that the reds should be saved and the FC is forced to leave sections of the wood saved for reds thus again impacting on their profit.
  5. One this afternoon trying to grt this one at this location for 4 weeks now, smal male the attrition is working!!! Total = 95
  6. Well Team Tractor all you had to do was explain that as well as being a joiner and Field Target European Champion was to tell me your name. Now I know it lol.
  7. Hawke Airmax designed for air rifles can cope with springers and rated for firearms as well.
  8. Hi all that were at Garlands today I was made really welcome for my first visit and had a blast! Cheers all that let me indulge in shooting many different calibres I only know Dougie,Fruitloop and Fisheruk so the rest of you don't get a specific mention. See you at Catton in June ( thanks for the invite and the coffee Dougie ) John.
  9. I got my first one of the year with my car, you with a bus thats 20% of this year's kills by vehicle bizarre ! 11
  10. 4 more today and put up feeder. one of them shot because I check zeroed with a shot to a dead branch and the squirrel popped out from it's mid day siesta spot in a connifer and started shouting at me for interrupting his sleep; so I put him to sleep for good. It's always worth re-checking zero for different distances ha ha 8
  11. Buzzards are helping us by killing greys in parks and woods that we can't shoot in, they also predate seagulls which are becoming serious predators of other birds, my son saw one chasing a kingfisher for two minutes up and down the river in Durham last week, kingfisher only just made it. Also if we shoot all the foxes something else has to keep the wabbits in check cos Hornady can't make enough .17 HMR ammo to keep up !!
  12. So do I, if the dealers were just shooting dealers I'd say give them more ammo but they seem to be shooting the unintended target 50% of the time. Safer to get out into the woods and shoot grey squirrels.
  13. When clearing greys under the name of LMGC and therefore it's insurance, formal agreement between landowner and the shooter / trapper to be adheered to i.e.our paperwork.Hence the reson for air rifles only. If shooting non air rifle then not on our insurance and has to be on your own e.g. I'm on BASC We have all been shooting and trapping as solo operators for years but believe that a co-ordinated approach is more effective for permanent clearece of areas around Red colonies and beyond .In ares where there are no reds the bounce back of song bird populations is dramatic when you remove the greys, Idea is to put like minded people in touch with each other in their local areas to help them be more effective such as one extra pair of hands or filling in when someone goes on holiday etc and also some people are prepared to travel further afield to help out in frontline ares or just to meet up with others for the common purpose of grey-clearence. Please make yourself known to Fisheruk if you would like to get involved we will be organising face to face meetings to explain more in the near future. regards, Suburban Shooter.
  14. My understanding of this American quote is in relation to combat shooting rather than just sporting shooting. It refers to the idea that it is a bad idea to take on a man that only ever shoots one rifle and knows it inside out because he won't miss.
  15. Got 5 in one afternoon on the 13th unlucky for some! The last one was in almost darkness my Hawke Airmax has 50mm objective lens dropped the magnification from 9 to 6 to get brighter image and nailed him.One of them was heavily pregnant. Then got one this Wed in someones garden. I have since been given permission to put a feeder on a tree to attract them into her garden so that I can shoot them. The greys are using the trees, fences and walls along the back gardens as a travel route between parks so its a perfect location to help clear them out of the area. The backstop is a sandstone wall. 1007
  16. 115 magpies 26 jackdaws no crows where I live and I don't shoot jays any more. Total 4695
  17. Yes they did ,they had realised that Ford were going to buy them and so needed to re- tool their factories to fight them off and so stopped buying top quality components from Germany and instead got them from China and South Korea.they thought that it would take three years for the buying public to notice and then the factories would have been sorted but we noticed after 18 months and started buying Japanese Toyota Lexus instead. Better car and a bit cheaper price as well! they invested in AA knights of the road set up in VW And Mercedes branded vans and clothing to give people the impression that they were getting great customer service when they broke down but they only broke down because the components in their cars were poor quality .So lets buy British especially now that we have voted to leave!
  18. To save the rhino, elephant and tigers they have to shoot humans; to save our red squirrels we only have to shoot grey squirrels

  19. Yes finally!! , no sightings today even though it was a dry cold day, the jays were nicking the grey's acorns and the black and white bandits were keeping their distance.. so no kills today; I have 112 magpies accounted for this year. Being a newbie do we list them somewhere else?
  20. Hello this is my first post, I have been reading the great posts for years which led me to switch from Webley Stingray .22 springer to a pcp RWS LR 20 very quiet and very accurate with AA sup. My total for 2016 is 43 total since 2007 is 853. I want the reds to spread so it is essential that all shooters keep up the good work on clearing the greys out of the areas that they shoot in, control is not enough!!!
