  1. After sending out approximately 30 letters to local farms i received my first call this morning..... 🙌🍾🙌🍾 Unfortunately the farmer had noticed that i don't have FAC and wanted to offer his services for any Deer control that may come up ....🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️ Oh well at least he said he thought that my introductory letters were very professional...😂🤣😂🤣
  2. Thanks Walker570, let’s keep our fingers crossed for next season 🤞🏻
  3. That's good advice thank you. I was always worried about how the farmer would react if i was seen driving around in my pick-up looking over their land...lol! but it actually sounds like a good way of striking up a conversation especially if they approach me...
  4. Hi old'un, Yes i am a Chartered Surveyor and have my own practice therefore i can be flexible and accommodate mid-week shoots which i hope will help me gain (and eventually keep) permissions...
  5. I sent about 20 into letters to the farms within 2.5 miles of my house, fingers crossed someone needs some help...🤞
  6. Hi Dan, Any structural alteration will require building control sign off otherwise you may have a problem if and when you come to sell. To do this you would need some floor plans showing what you intend to do I.e. existing and proposed, plus engineers calculations to size the beam. You then submit these to the local building control and notify them of your intention to start work then once the beam has been installed building control would need to inspect before it’s covered to sign it off. If you need any help with plans etc let me know and I will help or point you in the right direction. kind regards westley
  7. Thats my plan, thanks for your input 👍 Thanks for the heads up Kennett, at this point i am opening myself up to as many opportunities as i can to try and build my network but will bear that in mind for the future.
  8. Thanks oldpigeonpopper, I did think beating would be a good way into the sport and have signed up to National Organisation of Beaters to try and find some local shoots to work on, but obviously that won't be available until much later in the year and i did want to try and stay proactive and continue working towards a permission in the meantime...
  9. Thanks Dunks, I was already doing desktop research to find the local farmers details before i physically approached them to introduce myself. So I can still do the desktop research on local estates and call or send letters of introduction but as i don't actually know any farmers yet i am not sure if this will work. Whats your thoughts?
  10. Guys, I know that the subject of whether crop protection should or should not be undertaken in the current climate has been debated at length in the forum, and i appreciate that there is a split opinion on this which i do not want to go over again and therefore i am working on the assumption that; if a farmer considers it to be essential to their livelihood they will inevitably source somebody to undertake the operation of crop protection. I am still in pursuit of my first permission and up until the lock down i was on the look out for pigeons when i was out on appointments and approaching local farmers in person as and when i spotted pigeons feeding on crops, which obviously can no longer do this due to the travel and social distancing restrictions placed upon us. Therefore, as i understand it we are approaching a crucial time for crop protection so i am wondering: do i still try and contact farmers, albeit without actually finding the pigeons first and without making a physical introduction, or do i just sit things out for the foreseeable and resume my pursuit in person once the restrictions are lifted..?? Any input on the subject of gaining permission at this time would be welcomed. Kind regards Westley

    Asbestos !

Definitely looks like asbestos to me but you can buy a test kit online if you want to be sure https://asbestos-surveys.org.uk/product/asbestos-testing-kit/?gclid=CjwKCAjw1cX0BRBmEiwAy9tKHhRiaIctQ6FxzHRsvoO5u2CGc9bAwUJBs73Fdr64GrXv-w5mEqN3SRoC5IUQAvD_BwE Check with your council as they may let you dispose of small amounts of asbestos if it’s double bagged...
  14. There are some good deals around on ford rangers....
  15. Hi, I always say; ‘buy cheap buy twice’ so my advice would be to get the best you can afford. I had several tools from Erbauer and they are good for light use or DIY however, if you are doing any heavy or regular work go with DeWalt or Mikita. One thing to bare in mind with Etbauer is that the battery will probably go before the drill and it’s generally harder to get a replacement battery than it is for a DeWalt or Makita. Enjoy...
  16. Thanks guys, I wasn’t intending to try and get out until after the lockdown anyway, I was just trying to do some research into a local guide/agent whilst I am at a loose end 👍🏻
  17. Guys, Still not secured my first perm yet so I am thinking of paying for a day out to keep me going and was wondering if anyone recommend a pigeon shooting guide/agent for the Hertfordshire area please? kind regards
  18. I find that when I mount the gun I can’t see clearly through the scope and have to lift my head up... I did try some of the builders plastic packing shims but that felt like a bit of a bodge and I was worried the scope may not sit level The distance on the medium mount is 12mm and I need about 15mm minimum... thanks for all the help 👍🏻 Thanks for the advice 👍🏻
  19. Guys I need some advice please... I am trying to fit a Hawke 3-12x50 SF AMX IR to an Air Arms 510 however when I use the sports match T035C medium mounts the scope fouls the magazine. So I’ve tried the sports match HT036C high mounts but these are too high.Has anybody else had this issue if so how did you resolve it? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Kind regards
  20. Hi, I am looking for shooting permission and/or a syndicate place within the Hertfordshire are. All opportunities will be considered. kind regards
