  1. Currently you state his is opinion and your words read that your collective expertise and experience is fact. Is it possible Dr Smudger (genuinely a Dr also) could be giving an opinion based on facts and research? Is it possible you are passing on information given to you in good faith as fact, but may not be correct? As BASC is a professional body with collective expertise, could you kindly share the validated research to show that your data is factually correct? BASC collective experience is, in its own right, opinions only. Experiences is opinions, unless documented and validated. I believe Smudger has given references to results, which is far greater than experience/opinions. I would like to see the data that formulates the data in your podcast, as otherwise I would suggest your comment it is wholely inappropriate is incorrect unless your rebuttal is data to the contrary, of a higher standing and provenance. Your comment was reading relatively ok but without information. "BASC is "knowingly spread [ing] half truths and incorrect information in an attempt to save face" is wholly inappropriate. " may be a fair comment by you, I will give you that, but you can only state that with evidence to show his comments were inaccurate. As for wholly inappropriate, you would also have to assume for that to be a fair comment that he was wittingly and knowingly trying to deceive a forum. He has however given an opinion, based on facts, documented and shared. I believe he is just asking for the same.
  2. I have a lovely 20g silver pigeon, but it doesn't suit everyone. The advice above is defo golden.
  3. If you fancy a try with it, I am at Popham on Sunday, or could tickle the clays at Bisley on Monday
  4. Yes I believe so. It has the auto safety that I don't think the sporter has by default. It doesn't have the bigger palm swell. Engraving matches other field guns also.
  5. Is your comment highlighting people disregard the site rules, and therefore BP shooters should continue? Or that it's not fair the 32g shooters get away with it as it's not policed (through practicality)?
  6. I appreciate it is way off topic, however the last few pages is mostly a really good debate. Scully, +1 on the well thought out posts, and I understood the meaning of 'killing for fun' meant that the overall day is what brings pleasure, but without that element, it's just a walk with nibbles and carrying a gunslip and less enjoyable.
  7. I believe the LP is 14 1/2 but I would have to check when I am home later. It is a multi choke, and I believe five chokes are standard. it isn't a magnum, so two and 3/4 I suspect. Again, I can check when I am home tomorrow
  8. This beautiful 686 pig is a 28" beauty, bought a couple of years ago and has only done 2 slabs work. Pretty much in an as-new condition. As tight as the day it was bought. £1500 new, I'm looking for £1000 as it's immaculate, and I think that's fairly priced. Sale due to purchase of alternative gun. multichoke ABS case Hampshire
  9. If I could sell my 20g silver pig I'd upgrade ❤️ That's lush.
  10. Same price as rose gold, at retail price? Ouchies! I've heard those are a nice cart for skeet, shame a little pricey or I'd have asked to have those good luck with the sale!
  11. Indeed that's what hurts me the most, is a voluntary transition that was created by a group to try to fix the issue, but without consultation or desire from the populous. Also, you can't set a 5 year transition from 2020 which then expires in a year and change, if the other point of supply chain and affordable alternatives isn't in place either.
  12. Gordon, I'd agree. If this was genuine it would sell quickly, but if it smells of fish....
  13. That did it, Thankyou! also luckily it was just muck in the screw so all sorted!
  14. Absolutely. I need to find a screwdriver as I don't know if it's torx or ribe or something else. I can then see the extent of the damage.
  15. Team PW, advice needed please! I assume the screws in my forend are torx, what size head do I require for these? secondary, it looks like the previous owner may have rounded the heads a little. any tips for a cheap place to replace them as Beretta want £6 a screw! Ouch
  16. I have had need to write to Sir George Young a few times, and he was most helpful and frankly utterly charming and delightful to work with. All of the work was without personal gain to himself, and to my knowledge didn't serve towards PR or personal gain. Genuinely I am so grateful to him, and he was thoroughly pleasant. I hope he enjoys retirement!
  17. NR and local firms all have unionised staff. Whilst I am not opposed to a union, I do believe that's what causes change and a better service in this instance.
  18. I have a vintage air rifle, however it is not valuable to me. Take a 1960 Jag to the scrappy and he'll tell you it's worth £150. Take the same jag to an enthusiasts club and it could be worth £50,000. Knowing your value is so important, but also knowing what circle you are in also counts. You suggest it was prity straight forward (sic), however the dialog that followed showed you were too ambiguous. Maybe start again with what you are looking for and people may be more receptive. A rough location geographically that you are happy with face to face or if you're wanting postage will make a difference. I would suggest if you are looking for help in a wanted section it's best to not be obtuse. You can look that word up in the dictionary also, if it is not clear and not too difficult. (If you do take offence to that, maybe reflect on your previous post and realise why maybe it's sometimes better to be kind than being egregiously loquacious) Good luck with your search.
  19. The first pair felt amazing! The two for one was....... frankly bizarre and the shock was perplexing as I just don't see how! 🤣 If the invite is still there in January I'd be honoured to go again
  20. It's been fairly clear I am a clay shooter, I am not an active BASC supporter (but not a detractor either), and I haven't been out 'on the birds'. I decided to cold call Oowie, and ask if he would be so kind as to help give me an experience, for which he kindly agreed. It's December. It's cold, so so cold. The temperature isn't expected to really hit above zero, and getting up at 4am to get on site for 6am is tough going, and I am super glad I packed the car the evening before minus the gun! I arrive and meet Oowie and doggo, both giving a very friendly and polite welcome. The trees are glistening white, although any festiveness was slightly quashed by it being minus 2. It is crisp, it is silent, and we head to the first venue - the farm! We arrive at the dairy farm and it's already in full swing, the Doris's are munching their breakfast as the farmers are rushing around doing their work, and we have the friendly warning; "the birds will come across from over that field *points* once the heavy machinery stops" Oowie gives me a good safety briefing, and whilst I believe I am gunsafe he gives advice for the specific site as well as quarry and handling, just so we are covered. We have checked insurance and that's all good. First bird.... BANG! One bird, one barrel! Not too bad for me, and sets a good tone. I can't say I maintain that hit rate but..... lets pretend I did We had a good few hours on the farm and a fair few birds were dropped, but they soon seemed to learn to stay away. Breakfast time - standard hot food and hot drink from a well known sausage roll vendor. Yum. We checked out a few fields and found a good field and set up a hide, and we discussed the rules and goals. We (well, Oowie) set up decoys, and we spent a fair few hours getting some crows and pigeons. I am happy with the number shot, the birds were coming in waves, and we hit a fairly decent percentage of those hittable and in viable range. The pup was in good form and was an excellent retriever, however I probably didn't help by getting some birds that glided some distance or into another field. We wrapped up around 3pm and I had a massive tired but happy smile on my face. It really was a really fun introduction into vermin control, and to get an experience. Publicly I want to thank Oowie for his time and sharing his permissions with me for the day, and I am hoping to maybe get another visit with him in the future also. Is my mind changed on bird shooting? Yes. Is it harder than I thought? Yes. Is it enjoyable? Yes. I really enjoyed myself and would like to do it again to see if the buzz is still there. But, good company, good vibes, nice chats, even if the birds weren't flying I'd have had a really fun day! Thanks Oowie!
  21. I wish I needed a new semi! I can't justify that cost for a cabinet queen but that is gorgeous ❤️
  22. The A303 is amazing, and i love it. That said I own an A612 and it's cheap, reliable, and there's one being sold for £110 on the forum currently (I have no association with it!) Both are gas guns so need a bit more cleaning. I haven't shot the Escort but as TC said it's a great gun also. Find what you like, shoot it where you can if possible, and enjoy a fun gun
  23. Tidy is an understatement. I guess a slab through it at best, and I couldn't see a mark on it last time I saw it! Tidy gun and great shooter, I wish I liked pumps....
