  1. I have used magnets and floaters for some time now and give me floaters every time. I allways put my magnet with hypaflappers on off to one side of my pattern usually near the hedge on my left or right and found it works well on calm non windy days (Will Beasley ultralight with camo tape on shiny bits work very well) and keep the speed up of the magnet. Any other time I never use magnets just C.G. floaters which I find awesome, so good in fact I have started making them myself and selling them to matesin the area and all reporting back excellent results. :look:
  2. Having shot crows for a while now with my good friend Hawkeye, we tend to stick out half a dozen decoys randomly together with a caller. The most important thing is that your hide must be top notch as crows/rooks and other corvids have eyes like the proverbial **** house rat. The hide that I use is made up of two layers of 'stealth' netting with a roof on top. Also sit well back in the hide and keep movement to a minimum. If bright sunshine I also use a lightweight camo veil and camo floppy hat. Crows can detect any glinting from bright metal gun parts so dont flash the gun in sunlight (use camo tape). I use a Benelli 26" barrel in camo 'realtree''. Last two times out with Hawkeye we shot 175 crows over sheep pasture and freshly cut silage.
  3. Dear Bobby Dazzler, C.G. sells his floaters for £47 each plus £18 postage, thats £65. I can let you have 2 for £70 and free postage and thats the best I can do. A mate helps me to make them and the intention was to make a few for mates but once seen everybody wants them and I would sooner be out shooting than making them. PM me if still interested.
  4. Floaters are now £35 each if you buy a pair.Bodies are full flocked and are on fibreglass rods attached to bird by cradle.Rods are approx 5' and fit into ground spike so they always turn into wind.Postage is at cost (£8 irrespective of nos). You won't find better elsewhere.
  5. I have some full bodied flocked pigeon floater decoys complete, anyone interested they are £40 each +postage (approx £8).They are similar to the C.G. type and are deadly, stopped using magnet as its not as effective and is too heavy to lug around.
  6. No problem mate, will get onto it right away while the weather is still c**p. See you at the meet.
  7. I made a couple of floaters myself a while back as I could not get any from CG as he stopped making them for a while.I have made a few for my mates and although never thought of selling any as I did not have the time........work interfering with my leasure time. If any body wants one, pm me and I will see what I can do. I have used all sorts of decoys over the years and find the CG type of floater "the bees knees".
  8. I have several floaters where the foam wings are all worn out and in tatters, any ideas where I can get replacements. Using cardboard cut outs at the moment.
  9. When fitting wings, press in the body just below the wing slot, fit the wing fully home and allow the body to spring back and grip /trap the wing. If the slot is too wide (it should be just a narrow slit) then quite possibly the wing s can work loose.Once fitted leave them in and dont keep taking them in and out. Made some floaters up myself and found no problem even in 30 mph winds.
  10. Too many variables to calculate, people swing through at different speeds so one mans 2 ft is another mans 1 ft. Its all down to experience and practice.Been shooting for best part of 50 years and still miss some absolute sitters..... Clays can give you good perception of lead and if having problems, take a couple of lessons it could pay big dividens when out in the field.
  11. I bought one from the guy who makes them in Teesside. Went to pick it up myself as I live local and cost me £40, well made and similar to Chris Green's Floaters except that floater rod is spring steel and not fibreglass. Very realistic and not yet tried it, if thet are as good as his they will be awesome.

  13. Yes I have a pair, they operate off a 7amp/hr battery.Just switch them on for a couple of minutes,as they draw very little current and feet are warm as toast for the next hour. They are made of silk and have fine wires embeded in them so are not bulky and put them on next to your skin or over a thin pair of socks with heavier pair on top. They are often worn by motorcyclists and can be purchased in good motorcycle shops.I have a pair brand new if interested.
  14. I would like to add my thanks for all the effort that Will and Elvis put in to ensure me and Hawkeye had a good time......well done lads and thanks a million. Definetly be back again to sample your hospitality and visit Mike in the workshop for some more goodies,he looked after me really well......all for a lot less than £400 for all the gear I bought, cheers mate.. . With all the pigeons about (a zillion) I will need a 300 shot auto next time.
