garyb
Chaps... I've recently been given the go ahead to cull a few of the Muntjac (and later the CWD) on one of my permissions. I have spent sometime just sat, trying to observe them - and I often see 5-6 along the hedgerows on a nights foxing under the lamp. My question is.. are they creatures of habit, perhaps... just as Mr Todd is ? i.e if I see them around 7pm one night, can I reduce the odds by making sure I'm back in the same spot the following evening for the same time? I appreciate Dawn and Dusk are the best times.... GB
Dunkield
The Muntjac I see randomly, don't follow any particular pattern Gary, but they in busy area's frequented by many dog walkers etc - that might move them about a bit, but they are very bold. They are normally there or there abouts, say within an area of 3 fields, but I wouldn't say they were predictably in the same spot at the same time. garyb
This farm is plagued with Dog walkers, and other random trespassers.
al4x
On my ground I would say they can be predicted fairly well, this summer spent out looking for foxes in early evening they were noticeable to appear just before it got dark and I was seeing the same animals on a day to day basis very close to where they were before. Funnily enough since the nights dropped in i've not seen many on the lamp which does make me wonder if the ****** have been busy again as we can be plagued by them taking deer but usually towards christmas. garyb
I tend to see them within 60 yards of the same area, every time we're out foxing with the lamp... Saw one last night about 19:10... unfortunately it didn't present a safe shot, and with the girlfriend sat next to me saying - in a not so quiet voice "it's a cat!!" it safely made the cover of the wood Gonna try and have another go tonight, before this weather sets in. al4x
they are shall we say a pain when they sit in hedge bottoms and look back at you under the lamp so this girlfriend of yours has she had her eyes checked recently

Raja Clavata
Not done much as I don't have a calibre suitable for them at the moment but on one of my permissions in the summer I saw one in the same place, give or take 100 yards, on three consecutive early evenings just after the rape was cut.
