whitehackle
Im looking to buy a case for storing my bullets in and a wallet for taking out into the field. steve_b_wales
I store all my bullets in two safes that are bolted to my cabinets and wall. When in the field, I have a stock sleeve that fits on the rifle and holds up to 9 bullets.

casts_by_fly
if it's rimfire, I just leave them int eh cardboard box un my pocket or pack and have a couple spare magazines loaded. I have 2 mags for the 22 (14 shots total) and I had 4 for the HMR (20 shots total). I rarely need to shoot more than that in a short period of time and a 50 box of 22 LR doesn't last long enough for me to worry about the cardboard getting buckled around. Centerfires stay in their hard case in my pack or car. I shoot a single shot for everything at the moment, so I'll put a couple in my pocket and the rest in the game bag or similar. At home the loaded rounds are in the safe inside the plastic field boxes. The unloaded bullets are in the original packaging. Thanks Rick
whitehackle
sorry its a .222 rem. Iv just started to reload my own bullets, and want to buy a case that I can fit 50 or so bullets in, today I have put them in an old packet that factory bullets came in but I dont think these are very good. I think I might buy a bullet holder that goes over the stock, anyone recommend one? thanks Edited November 3, 2009 by jclowes
henry d
I think I might buy a bullet holder that goes over the stock, anyone recommend one? thanks I would advise against it as the potential for losing ammo is there. I use this box for home storage and something similar to this in the field.
steve_b_wales
As above. Stored in plastic boxes, then in the safe.
casts_by_fly
I can't see the links above (work net nanny) but I use the MTM cheap ones from Midway. I have 2 sizes, one for 223 and one for 22 hornet. The 223 sized one is what you'll want for a 222. The next size smaller (hornet/221FB) won't be long enough. It is just enough for a 221FB with a 40 gr BT seated out to the lands in my gun. Thanks, Rick
miniwizard
dont get the frankford ones as the plastic hinges are ****,they crack and the the lid falls off
Dunkield
I have fancy cartridge holders, the cordura/velco ones, but TBH I just use the plastic strips factory ammo comes to carry them in the field. Or filled mags in my pocket.

njc110381
For my large centrefire rounds I usually load all the mags I have and then carry ten rounds in a folding cordura wallet. If you go for this option I suggest that you go for something with a popper closure. Try getting velcro open in a hurry without spooking everything for miles, it's not a good choice for field use! For my rimfires, .22 and .17 Hornets I made my own bullet pouch. I just cut a 6" circle of leather and then punched holes every inch around the outside. Thread some para cord through the holes and then tie it in a loop. If you drop 50 rounds in the middle then pull the string tight it makes a great little pouch which is very quiet to use.
