If you are clearing vermin from a warehouse I would guess that a multi-shot PCP would be your best bet. The Air Arms S200 is OK, but I'd plump for a second hand S410. You should get one of those for £400 - £450. An air tank would be another £150, but if you are prepared and able to visit your nearest air rifle dealer as and when you need a top up (around 70 - 90 shots depending on calibre) you can get by without one. You don't need an expensive scope for what you are intending doing. A 4 x 40 will be fine and only cost about £30.

Personally I'd recommend a .177 for most things, but for what you are using the gun for, a .22 might be better.

Sorry, but I disagree. H&N FTTs are much too hard a pellet for this type of shooting.

The first thing is to try a few different pellets with targets set at the same distance and your gun rested so as to make all the shots the same. You need the pellet that gives greatest accuracy in your gun. Pellets work differently in various guns. What works in one might not work in another.

At the sort of ranges you will be shooting there is nothing wrong with using flat headed pellets like RWS Hobbys or hollow point pellets like Verminpell. These will hit much harder and that makes a difference when ratting. AA Fields are excellent all-round hunting pellets.

air arms, daystate or theoben precharge multishots, second hand good ones will be just the ticket there all accurate and suitable. if your looking for something light a little single shot s200 air arms, have fun pal and id say have a few hundred quid to one side and just watch the a few forums sales boards. you wont go wrong with any of the above. springers are good, but can be fickle on the hold, a pcp is a lot lot easier to shoot.
