poorpeet
I managed to soak my SGC in used engine oil  Anyway, I rang my local firearms dept and explained. 'Send it in and we'll sort it out' they said 'we're quite busy though so it may take a couple of weeks'. So off it goes in the post. Four, yes FOUR, days later a nice new SGC lands on my door mat. They didn't even charge me for it! Now that's what I call service Well done Kent Plod
Cranfield
I have always found them very helpful and we don't seem to get the same problems in Kent, that members seem to suffer in other parts of the country.
Breastman
Always good to hear about fair and efficient FLD's. From my experience at least, i'd class Durham the same  Mark
al4x
realistically if they're like ours and just printed including the picture its fairly easy to just run them off so really there is no excuse for taking ages.
FinFerNan
Always good to hear about fair and efficient FLD's. From my experience at least, i'd class Durham the same Mark Odd you should say that, some years ago (before the rationalisation of the applications process) Kent was deemed the best (easiest) area to get a SGC. And Northumberland was the most difficult. I know Durham is not in Northumberland, but it's fairly close :( I for one applaud the standardisation of the application process and it seems to me (as a returning shooter) that the Police and Firearms Departments have really got their acts together. Breastman
How very DARE you sir!! :yp: Durham and Northumberland share a jurisdiction border and thats the ONLY similarities when it comes to Firearms Licensing! You could not get two forces with a more differing attitude towards firearms. Northumberland seems to view them as the spawn of satan and from what has been related to me by shooting friends covered by them, will do pretty much everything they can to prevent you getting one in the first place or more in the future. :( Durham on the other hand just stick to the regs (as all FLD's should) and if you've got a legitimate reason for wanting something, they'll let you have it and normally quite quickly too Mark
Skippy
That's a first for Kent in my experience. We almost lost our land because of their shoddy approach and actions! But excellent in this case!

It seems nothing has actually changed then
dunganick
Sounds nothing like west kent unfortunately. But good for the OP.
timb
Kent Police certainly very good in the east of the county. Polite e mails usually ensure action the next day in my experience. Cant talk for sevenoaks area though.

Cant talk for sevenoaks area though. Sounds excellent, emails would certainly speed up the process. My father recently waited 9 months for a renewal. My initial grant took just over 9 months and a variation about 1.5 months. This added to one officers incompetence/miss information which has effectively scared one of our land owners wives into thinking we shoot rifles into the air. Its not particularly impressive unfortunately.
