Fisherman Mike
Picked some Horse Mushrooms last week on the wolds ( Fields which have been regular pasture for horses over many years are best ) plus a couple of small puff balls. I remember the L H Summer of 76 When the rains finally came in late August Early Sept... There were Mushrooms everywhere, on one of the local stables several fields were white with them... You could not walk across the field without stepping on them. FM. PS My gramp told me a story when I was a nipper... He was out mushrooming early morning as a lad and heard the most terrible agonising wailing sound... fearing it was a screeming banshee he had heard stories of he rushed home across the fields as fast as his legs could take him. As he ran passed the milking parlour his Dad grabbed him by the scruff of the neck and on relaying his tale to him was reassured by the following words " That wernt no banshee lad... just a Frog sat on Toads Tool..."
