smig4373
Just been for a walk up to the garage and on the way back noticed a barn owl patrolling an area of rough ground next to the main road...I walked over and got in a position where i could see it....I squeaked a couple of times...Only quietly,I know Owl's have tremendous hearing...To my shock,It took off and flew towards me....It realised i wasnt a rodent and quickley darted away..I squeaked again as it flew off,It turned and gave me 1 more pass.....Truley magnificent Birds.... Hope the video link works....You can just about hear me squeaking..(over the car noise).. Chard
Cracking bit of footage there, chap. We get a few Barn Owls out on the mosses near here (South Manchester). Never see them in full daylight, but they start hunting at twilight, especially when they've got young to feed

malkiserow
I thought I was being clever squeeking in owls just to see how well they responded and see them a bit closer..... a birder friend told me of people who had lost eyes doing this as they go for the shine ........... my last attempt at this was where the own was about 12 inches infront of me on a branch looking straight into my eyes ......... never did it again .... guess you could wear some glasses or goggles
ziplex
Well done , I managed to get one come towards me on a large common near us earlier in the year but nowhere near as close as that..........must learn to squeak better I guess. steve_b_wales
I regulary get owls coming into the call, when out lamping. I find that the higher the pitch, the better they respond. It's nice to see them flying around.
