steve_b_wales
I have changed my gun cabinet, twice in the past few years, I never informed my FEO, as the new cabinet was 'police approved' and, in fact, was a better, stronger one. When my licence comes up for renewal in May, I will just tell him what I've done.
gsm1968
You must let them know, especially if you are going to fill it. They have on record your storage capacity, and will visit if it goes over the figure they have.
sitsinhedges
I have just added a further cabinet next to my first one due to me aquiring another gun and I didn't want to have them all banging about in too tight a space. When I notified them of my new gun purchase the online form had a box at the bottom for further information so I told them that I had bought and fixed a new cabinet too. Whether they come to check it is now up to them, it only took them a year or so to check the first one but the ball is now in their court and I have covered myself. bigstevouk
You don't really have to let them know but to hold more guns you will need space to put them.... just worth a quick call to FAO to update your details Edited January 23, 2010 by bigstevouk
Dekers
You must let them know, especially if you are going to fill it. They have on record your storage capacity, and will visit if it goes over the figure they have. This may be true in some cases but by no means all. And I am confident there is no legal requirement to advise your people if you change your cabinet, do it by all means though if it makes you feel easier. I have 3 cabinets, more purchased over the years as the need developed, and those I had also traded for larger units, I also have a lot of guns, and my cabinet/s have NEVER been inspected, even when I moved a couple of years ago and advised my people all I got was a call asking if everything had been fitted. Regions vary dramatically, still a big problem of inconsistency around the country!
