Windy
Had my first decoying sessions last week, over OSR. Like many other posts, it seems well established that the woodies are calling it a day after lunch. So....my question is, when does brekkie start? At dawn? Once it warms up a bit? I'm pretty sure I probably started a bit late on both occasions. Looking to get out a bit earlier next time. Ta

stubby
we tend to get out half an hour before sunrise, get the deeks and magnet set up, and then sort out the hide (straw bales) turn the magnet on 20 mins or so after the sun comes up, get pidgeons within minutes
Windy
hmmm.....so me setting up at 1030 is a bit tardy then!! Think I'll be pre-loading the truck the night before the next outing.
Cranfield
I shoot pigeons by Office hours. I have never felt the need to be out at the crack of dawn, especially when there has been a frost. In the Summer months a bit of overtime at the end of the day is permissible. Blackpowder
In general I have found that there is a period between 12 and 2 pm when pigeons cease feeding and sit to digest their breakfast , brunch and lunch before returning to top up with tea, dinner and supper before going to roost. motty
I will be out at first light tomorrow. The last time the field i'm shooting tomorrow was rape, i was consistently shooting 50 birds in the first hour of being there. This can often be the busiest period of the day (this time of year) but i find it can be just as busy from 1pm onwards - if you stay all day. anser2
In my area of Norfolk the best pigeon shooting on rape at this time of year is from sunrise to midday. We get very little afternoon shooting over rape until March. In the summer 4.00 pm is plenty early enough.
