Broken Leg

My friend an i aint been out for quite a while with our Shotty's and rifles  . So just over a week ago we decided to take a weekend off and give the guns a good airing  . We rang around a few of our permissions just to let them know we were still about. We got a bit excited at the chance to give our rimy's a bit of work. When one farmer said the was a big population boost in rabbits since we last visisted. Which was a early last summer  . So making plans for last weekend gone, we started to look forward to what could be some fair shooting and good bags. But then disaster struck, well for me at least. About 6AM on the 1st of February, i slipped on some black ice an fell down some steps on the way to work. On hearing the awefull crack coming from my leg, i feared the worse :hmm: .About an hour later and a shed load of medication for the pain, the x rays came back confirming that i had a 4inch fracture in my left fibular. When i came home, i gave my friend the news on the phone. All i could hear was was a loud belly laugh of disbelief. Which i should say i expected. So needless to say the weekend came an went and i was layed up in plaster, while my friend was out in the field. As it turns out he made a decent bag of 14 rabbits and a few crows. Which i was happy to hear. And pleased that he hadn't had a wasted journey like. But alas for me, shooting for the next few months is out. All down to a little slip and a big fall. Totally an utterly Gutted  . So when your happy out in the fields in the coming months, think of me hobbling about frustrated. But on the brighter side of things, its a few months off work to with full pay ??? . Good shooting to all :hmm:

All best

Gareth

??? Join the club DD. Broke mine friday morning. Well...my foot anyway. Had to go back this morning due to the pain and had more xrays. I've detatched my navicular. I have to wait for the swelling to go down and then have surgery for it pinning and wires. Bored? Doesn't even come close. You can't even view your xrays anymore as they are all done digitally. Gone are the days when you would hobble back down the corridor with them and sneak a good peak at them.

Hope you have a swift recovery fella.

Ouch Mr Lee. I thought mine was bad, but yours sounds positivley awfull. They was going to pin mine due to the length of the fracture, but one specialist turned around in his infinit wisdom an said that mine could heal with out pinning. But i could end up with a permmenant weakness there, whether its pinned or not, due to the length of fracture. So i got to go back on the 25th of this month and have it re x rayed and hopefully it is healing properly and to their satisfaction. Because if it aint healing tidy, they might end up pinning it any way to make it stronger in the long run. Which would be very infuriating to me, because i got holidays booked in Early June to Spain and i would have to cancell it. Why gamble when they could have fixed it there an then with no come backs. Any way BUD hope you have a speedy recovery and back out in the field as soon as. I just hope you ac cope with the endlees mundane **** they are putting on the telly. Its been a week an half an i'm going around the twist. Trying to find other things to do other then sit in front of the box, being subjected to the mind numbing jargon on it.

All the best and i hope you ankle heals quick

Cheers

Get your shooting buddy to lift you ito a 4x4 and do some lamping, at least you wont be too rusty!

Get well soon

Most of the land we got is unsuitable for a tank never mind a 4*4 lol. The part of Wales i come from is very mountainous in the valleys areas. Its going to take a bit of time, but i'l be back out there making up for it. Cheers any way Berretta all best :good::good:

Got a mate who is going to pick me up and take me sea fishing again in a week or two off sandsend so shouldn't be too bored. Means I have plenty of time to make numerous rigs up.

Got a picture of my foot this morning when they removed the backslab cast prior to fitting a new one. Got to go back friday still for another look and scans and xrays.

That looks awefull. I hardly bruised or swolle up. Looking at yours

and mine, i'd say i got the better lol. That does look very painfull. I do a bit os sea fishing too. But all my gear is up in the attic. And i got to be honest. Thats where its staying. The waters around the coast of South Wales are pretty dire for fishing to say the least. Still i hope you have a good day. All best Gareth
