I've got a 391 in black and had a similair problems.Cleaned it til it shone but still got the intertmittent problem.

I've always run my autos with the dryest amount of oil spray-but i've found that a spray of wd40 on the outside of the mag tube/slider cured the problem instantly.

hope that helps

My Xtrema2, Alex`s old one, does have an "O" seal, just beyond(towards the muzzle) the gas ports and well recessed and therefore easy to miss.

As for whether this is the problem......... dunno, sorry :good:

**EDIT** Photo added

That is exactly what mine looks like,

Only mine is cleaner now.

It performed faultlessly yesterday and never missed a beat so it obviously needs thoroughly cleaning more than once every 3 years.

Motty,

Gives yours a damn good clean, Mine is now cleaner than it was when new and works faultlessly again.
