I've been working on a fox caller so that I can have several options to chose from while out "Foxing"! Here is a short video of the one that I have recently made with a Free Offer thrown in! (God I hate using that word "FREE") I will post each of the first 6 people to contact me one of these callers, (Because of postage costs this offer is strictly 6 only on a first come first served basis) and all I ask in exchange is that you post your opinions of them on this thread when you have had a chance to try them. If the reports come back favourable I will post some photos and instructions on how to make them!

Please feel free to leave any feedback after just watching the video as well guys!

Just guessing, but is this the same principal as a grass blade held tight between your thumbs?

Yes, it works on the same principal but the way I have made them they should last well and you can just hold them between your lips to blow them leaving both hands free for your rifle or shottie!

All 6 free callers are now spoken for and were posted on Thursday 18/02/2010. Watch this space for the reviews once they have arrived and been tried!

I haven't really thought about making them to sell Kev! In answer to your question Yes, I have tried different amounts of turns of tape round each end just as I have tried different lengths of the wood that I make them from and I have found that the way I am doing them seems to work quite well. Another thing that makes a real difference to the "pitch" is the tension on the reed, (The piece of VHS Tape), that's the hardest bit to get right. At the moment the way that I am making them no two will ever sound exactly identical which is why I carry two with me when I get the chance to go out lamping, we all know that when out "foxing" what works on one night may not work quite so well on another, which is why you should always have several different callers wqith you to use.

If I could find some plastic strips the right size then I might think about making them to sell, in the mean time I am waiting to hear back from the people who I sent samples to so that I can see what they make of them, when they have had a chance to try them, which I don't expect to happen till at least the end of next week.

Thanks for the interest.

Im planning to get out tommorow night with the 'FB Caller' and i will let you know how i get on.

First impressions are it sounds very good, and quite variable.

Many thanks again for your kind offer.

:/ mine also arrived to day and as above a good variety of pitches can be made by a simple blow or suck increasing in strength to increase the tone :good:

Should be going out on Tuesday weather permitting :good: so will give it a bash and let you know

thanks Frenchieboy

Will post results soon

Took my 'frenchie specail' out in to fields this week, no gun, just wanted to see how it went. I was able to make varying sounds and different pitches by changing the position of it in my mouth, blowing hard sounded incredibly like a bunny in severe distress.!!

Sat in the corner of the field up on a sloping section with the lamp, gave it a few blast's, and scanned witht the lamp, saw a pair of eyes shining around 300 yds out, flicked off the lamp and blew again this time a bit harder, and sure enough charlie was coming straight at me, I left the lamp on him and kept blowing he still came towards me!.

i recon thisa is any shop bought call, and would gladly apy for one (if I hadn't have got this for FREE!)

Cheers Frenchie.

Thanks for that BB, let's see what the others that I sent them to have to say about them once they have had time to try them out. I don't know what it is like weather wise with others at the moment but it's a constant mixture of snow and rain up here so I can't get out lamping myself. Hopefully things will change over the week end!

Smig4373 my friend, you say "It sounds like they work OK" in such a way that you doubted my that little home made callers would attract "Old Charlie", how dare you. lol

I will see how things go and take it from there Smig!
