Langer
Hello all!! Thought I would introduce meself! I'm Mike from North Wales. I enjoy airgun hunting and have recently applied for a shotgun licence to enable me to better control the vermin!! Any suggestions on a decent shotgun for a starter? I will be mostly rabbiting, pigeon and crow decoying and hopefully one day run into the B%*S£%*@D fox which had 3 of my chickens last week!! Happy hunting Mike

gonk69
hiya fella any gun from berrettas 686 range, good reliable hard wearing and you can pick one up for a good price, happy hunting, matt
Dekers
Flippen 'ek, seems all the Beretta fan Club is out tonight...anyway, they are all probably right!! As others have said it needs to fit ideally (although I'm convinced the VAST majority of Shotguns DO NOT fit their owners), and I suggest a Used Beretta over a cheaper NEW shotgun if money gets difficult! Berettas are still not "cheap" even on the used market, and there are others to look at, but you will hear of very few complaints from Beretta owners. Perhaps I have been fortunate, my Dad did all the testing over many years with many Shotguns before going down the Beretta route, and I got to play with a few. Hence why I have only owned Berettas.....currently 3 in the Cabinet, a 391 Gold, 686 Sporting Special and a Silver Pigeon III...my first was a 303 about 20 years ago!!!! No complaints from me...but I do like Miroku, but just no reason to chop any of mine in for the extra money Miroku, my Berettas all do more than I can already!! ATB!! MITCHF
Had a Silver Pigeon as my first when I started, after lot's of similar advice. I sold it in less than a year, now have a Miroku. Why, didn't listen to the best advise in the first place........."get a gun that fits, regardless of the brand" Where are you in North Wales mate ? Might be able to help. Cheers, Mitch Edited February 24, 2010 by MITCHF
COACH
It all depends on your budget. Second hand Beretta 680/686/687/682. Browning 325/425/525. Miroku 6000/7000/mk60/mk70/mk38 from around £600/700 upwards.(6000/7000/mk70 have low combs and tend to suit people over 6ft 2in.) Second hand Lanber sporter from around £400 upwards. Second hand Baikal 627 from around £200 upwards. My personal choice would be the 686/687/682 made in the mid eighties as they were the best ever made.
