eddoakley
Finally got my fac back on Thursday with variation for .243.......Have put a deposit on a howa 1500 but am now considering other options(second hand) The howa comes with a cheap nikko sterling scope, t8 mod, hard case and i think 20 rounds for 750, i know its a good deal but not sure whether a second hand one might allow for a better name? or am i asking too much for a gun at this price? Does anyone use a howa? Thanks Edd
Dekers
I've never owned one but know/known those that do and I've used them. I was quite seriously looking at them myself at one point but I just don't get on with the Hogue stock...personal thing of course, many do like it. The gun, in principle, is sound as far as I can see! On the whole quite a reasonable package and good value for money!! These are/were often sold as complete packages with scope, mounts, moderator, slips, whatever!! Can't say I've heard many negative reports on them!! gixer1
I have a weatherby vanguard (which is basically the same gun as the Howa) in 243 and it's a fantastic rifle. I added a timney trigger kit and boyd's FT stock to mine but have left the action as it is such a reliable machanism...
dunganick
Have a search using the search feature. Done to death doesn't come close for this topic. Still licking my wounds from the last topic infact.
adymorris
excellent bit of kit - I good deal on my Howa 1500 .223 I'm using a cheap fox scope & Prvi soft points and it's been hitting hares out to 340 odd yards - Can't fault it apart from the trigger is a bit heavy and it's not adjustable unless you drop it into a gunsmiths or know your way around a trigger mechanism Edited May 20, 2010 by adymorris

oldspot
I have a .243 stainless/synthetic and find it really good for the money. The trigger is adjustable(look on utube and you will see a teenage American lad adjusting his in his bedroom), not too difficult. Drop out box mag conversions are avalible and save dropping your bullets when unloading. Replace the scope with something better for poor light shooting if you can afford to. Oldspot, Do you know where you can get the drop box mag conversions? I thought these were only available for long action caliber howa/weatherby's?? Hope you're right as i would like a detachable mag for mine. Regards, Gixer
al4x
I'd be having a look at this if I was in your position and then saving up for a better scope. I've a nikko sterling on my .223 and great during the day or lamping but when it lets you down is at dusk so will be getting chopped before summer http://forums.pigeonwatch.co.uk/forums/ind...howtopic=113050
Silhouette
I think Roedale Precision do drop box mag conversions. Not cheap though.
