Cleaning SAK mod

i noticed my HMR rounds are starting to stray a bit lateley and somebody mentioned to clean out the SAK mod as they get gunked up quick and affect bullet direction.

I took the end off to have a look and have chiseled off a ton of kak already but does anybody know how to take out the baffles so i can clean the rest of it ?

any help or advice welcome, thanks

With my SAK, you undo a couple of grub screws and the outer sleeve slides off revealing the one-piece baffle. A squirt of WD40 frees the sleeve up if it is a bit hard to get off. The baffles can then be cleaned - I usually scrub it out underwater with an old tooth brush to stop lead dust getting into the air. Then leave it somewhere warm to dry off, a wipe with an oily rag and back together again.

it may be stuck in,so you need to tap it out..as it is supposed to slide out....do not damage the thread.

thanks for the advice guys, it is the version without the grub screws so i will soak it in WD40 and see if i can tap it out later on when i get home, i just cant believe how much kak is in there after just 500 rounds of 17hmr since new !

thanks again

same as mine with the 2 slots on the end cap and i clean it only when the accuracy goes off.

when you have cleaned it and put it together, you will find it seems louder than before and the reason is it will take a few shots for it to quieten it down again.

thanks for the help guys i used the wd40 which kept the dust down great but had to resort to a hammer and piece of wood to protect thread to get it out.

By the looks of the inside i would recommend cleaning every 500 rounds at the minimum !

cant understand why these shops say they are maintenece free and not cleanable ?

cheers
