i used to have a shotgun for the farm one for clays one for target and one for practical,i sold the lot and bought just one shotgun ,i now own a benelli 12 shot fac shotgun,its never jammed its very ponitable recoil operated not gas (so not loads of cleaning!) fully loaded it weighs less (yes less) than my 3 shot al391 tekneys empty!,theres too few people on here with actual experiance of fac shotguns or their target use,alot of opinions though,shame there so ill informed (turned down were we fellas?).when a flock of pidgeons fly over my hide i can take out 6, (record is 8) now i dont know about anyone else,but i love having more than 3 shots!!.i also shoot target shotgun at bisley and ukpsa shotgun with a west country club,its lots of fun,and anyone dressed in camo gear is imedeitly binned from the range,uve a range officer stood right behind you the whole time u shoot practical and its got a perfect saftey record.unfortunatley sgc holders cant seem to grasp any of this.....................shame.

From having attended a number of shooting disciplines now I can verify that Practical shotgun has the safest record and this is due to the strict rules that apply in this discipline. You have to give verbal commands all the time if you so as much as touch your shotgun.

Hi Kent

You are correct about our safety record which is excelent due to the rules & safety procedures in place, the verbal commands are only applicable while on the two day basic safety course however, its used so the instructors can see that your thinking about safety as you take part in the drills & stages being shot.

Once the course is over you dont have to continue doing it, however some people like to continue it & of course nobody minds if you do.

It is however considered polite to warn others if you intend to rack the action of your gun in a safety area.

You can even wear your black pyjamas if you want.

:blink: :lol::lol:

Im afraid I dont have any.

UKPSA/IPSC dont allow all black or military cammo clothing of any kind.

So we usually have colourfull team or national shirts like this..

Oh I still do. :blink:

When I take the gun out of the rack I always go: Taking gun out of rack gun is empty, safety is applied. I didn't know you don't have to say this. Mind you I am usually extra safe around guns anyway since I have a "clumsy attitude" sometimes so I want to make sure that I and everyone else is safe around me.

Cool you're doing the May shoot? The Ken Brown Memorial. Me too, looking forward to my first competition. :blink:

Kent

Yes I will be at the Ken Brown Memorial Match as its a week before the Pigeon Watch Clay Day, I am just sorting the entry out for myself & a mate.

We will be shooting the Bayern Cup match before either of these events though, held on May 8th in Philippsburg Germany, I will post a few pics of the trip when I get a chance.

Good Luck with your first match.
