Poor weather but good day

Me and dad were out again today shooting over drilled peas.

As soon as we got on the farm we could see large amounts of birds everywhere going to many of the drilled fields so we pushed them off and sat and watched the birds come back to see which ones they were more interested in and we found them going on to 2 fields that were drilled with peas on wednesday.

We set up 2 hides about 35 yards apart and I set up a U-shape pattern with shell decoys and 2 bouncers.

Straight away the birds started coming in and after the first hour we had shot 20 birds when one of the farm workers turned up and asked if he could take a few dead birds for decoys so he could cover another field and we gave him the 20 bodies we had and he headed off and set up on another part of the farm and then a while later his son turned up wanting some decoys so he could set up on one of the drilled wheat fields so we gave him 10 dead birds and 5 shell decoys.

Soon after this the weather turned and it started raining and drizzling and it kept on like this all day but the birds did not stop totally and we ended the day with 88 pigeons 1 corw and 1 dove.

I spoke to the farmer and his son and the father shot 71 and his son shot 50 and they both shot 21 crows between them.

So it was a good day for us all even with the bad weather.
