scuta
Hi, Anyone know the score with the Newnham Park shut down? Have just seen the post on the CPSA web site - gutted!!
Catamong
It seems they want to concentrate on the Corporate Events and can't be bothered to run competitions of any sort any longer. That's a shame, it's a cracking ground, definitely ranks alongside Hodnet as one of the best in the Country, but it's too far for most people to travel. It's ironic because the Corporate punter doesn't need a superb ground like Newnham to break their first clays, any trashy "JJ's style" ground will do, as they don't know any better. Cat. MC
How many times have you straighted the shoot at JJ's Cat? Maybe you are running scared as it isn't as easy as you make out. Being the washed out ex spurt that you are, after all you could go and win 250 cartridges there every week istead of driving through france to do it. Maybe the competition isn't as fierce abroad. To go with your MADE UP AA class average? I have shot JJ's twice and have never seen a 10 yard clay there. You just carry on showing yourself up, it seems to be the only thing you are good at. Raw nerve? I doubt it. When you can prove how good you are I may take notice. Up until then carry on stalking me, everyone needs someone to look up to. I just never imagined I would be your Idol. Salopian
The Competition Clayshooters Association issued this statement to Newnham Park " Get stuffed, stick your Coaching and Corporates up your claytrap"
benelli montefeltro
i see your still hurting mc, just let it go for gods sake. oh and i have absolutely nothing to prove to you, and i think i said that before. you cannot prove otherwise so there we go
scuta
I think every clay ground has it's place, depending what you want to get out of the sport, (and yes I would put JJ's in the social/first rungs on the ladder shooting ground - we've all been there) I have to agree, Newnham is a complete waste of a top ground, in a glorious setting, for corporate events. First timers (including myself, when I first ventured out) just want - and need - to hit clays to generate that feel good factor and bring them back wanting more. I consider Newnham as one of, if not the top sporting ground in the country and putting on corporate type targets is IMHO a waste of their setting and abilities. I'm just gutted really 'cos it was the only thing that made the trip down from London to Devon to see my in laws worthwhile!!
Catamong
after all you could go and win 250 cartridges there every week istead of driving through france to do it. I know, isn't it fantastic..?? I'd never shot the ground before, but turned up and beat the locals with a stunning 23,22,23,23, not bad eh..?? Enjoy the Essex Masters, my prediction for your score is 116 ex 200. Unfortunately there's no Boy Scouts or ageing W.I. members to duff up there, just serious clay shooters. Cat. Catamong
No, a 130 is my prediction for PDLM, I forecast an acute attack of event anxiety syndrome. I reckon Mung could break the 140 this year, God knows he's spent thousands on one to one coaching lately so he must surely start to improve soon. The real PW dark horse has to be tosspot, I've got him down for a 160, I know he can do it, I've shot with him at Southdown as he was as cool as the proverbial cucumber, just grinding 'em up, one after the other, if he keeps his head intact, he'll do well. The Northern contingent will all struggle in the clean and unpolluted air down South, they'll all be nursing mega hangovers after sampling a bit too much of the lovely local ale the night before, Chard will surprise himself by shooting a stonking score over the first 100, but I predict a mega meltdown over the afternoon layout to return a mediocre 142. I'll be there at 9.00am on the Sunday, let's all pray for good weather..?? Cat.

I seem to think Mung got about 148 last year I agree Tosspot's a bit of a dark horse, but I bet he shoots it like a total cock this year I'm almost teetotal these days, so I won't be getting trousered the night before I only got 130 last year, anything better than that'll do me

Mr_Logic
I am really sorry to see this announcement, it was the highlight of my trip to Devon to see my folks. I can't believe the stupid retard who runs it has done this - it's the best place I've ever shot clays, and by some distance too. I will be calling them in the morning to vent my anger, not that it will do any good and probably they won't answer the phone either, but it will make me feel better! Does anyone know anywhere else to shoot clays in Devon?
100milesaway
There used to be a small hotel called Dedes, i think and they used a ground which was ok. There is ussually quite afew grounds that advertise in the back of Pull Magazine in Devon.Ashcombe shooting ground.01626-866766.Crediton gun club,01363-773496.North Devon shooting ground,01271-863959.Southwest Shooting school,01271-864784.Tamar shooting ground,01409-2418398. I've visited a couple of these but they are not on a par with Newnham Park. from Auntie.

paulos
I've never shot there and although is the polar opposite end of the country to me it is still a real shame. I guess this is one of the downsides to running a shooting ground as a business rather than for shooters. If only the CPSA had the motivation or desire to step in and mediate some form of compromise with them.
