Scope for foxing on a .223

Looks like I am picking up a .223 this will primarily be used for lamping foxes.

 

Any recommendations on a decent scope upto around £500 maximum. New or used.

 

Currently have a 8x56 S&B on my 6.5x55 which seems to perform well enough.

Get another S&B I have a 8x56 on my 6.5x55 and a 3-12x50 on my .223 but would happily have another 8x56 if I had to replace it.

Have a look at the HAWKE endurance range of scopes. They are excellent. I used one on my 22-250 for months with good results, until I bought a S & B.

once you've one S&B a cheapie won't cut the mustard, that budget should easily get you a decent second hand one

S & B 8 x 56 is the kiddie for foxing IMO.

Perfect for foxing under low light / lamp.

Good deals to be had on Ebay

 

I picked up a new (but used) Swarovski 8x56 for £400

 

They retail new at about £700

and on here but you have to be fast my S&B was £325 but with an inch tube, suited me as it fitted my rings and I really can't see the difference having looked through the one above as well. I looked on ebay for quite a while and they were selling very well on there for top money

Agreed. Since putting a swaro on my .223 the scopes on my other rifles (which were excellent in my opinion) have all suddenly developed strange clarity faults.

Just brought an as brand new swarovski 8x56 from fleabay for 570 will stick that on my 6.5 and use current S&B on .223
