deputy dog Posted May 13, 2010 Report Share Posted May 13, 2010 Just been diagnosed with blood clots this last week past, some may remember the post i put on about it a few days ago. Well i was hoping to go on holiday to Spain on June the 4th for a fortnight. But unfortunately that wont be possible now. I phoned my insurance company which i compelled to do, to tell them about the changed in circumstances concerning my health. They asked what medication i was on for my condition which a truthfully told them, and the amounts i need to take any given day. I also told them that i may have to get at least 1 maybe 2 blood tests done whilst out in Spain, so i can phone the results back through to my doctor and he, in due course will relay back to me the new amount of medication to be taken, whether more or less for the next few days or weeks maybe. The insurance person i talked to was very polite and took down all that i had told her, then said she would pass the information on to their medical staff for them to decide if i would still be coverd by my the insurance i had. Then the bomb dropped about half 2 yesterday afternoon. They phoned back up and advised that i cancell my holday because their company wasn't prepared to cover me in the unlikely hood of some going wrong with me whilst i was out in Spain and thought i was too much of a liability to claim. I tried to tell them my doctor and specialist was willing to write a letter saying that i was fit to go on holiday and the medication was only to regulate my blood and nothing more. But they werern't having it at all. So i went to the travel agent and duely cancelled my holiday and had so much money back of them. Got to fill in forms now to claim the rest back off the insurance people. They said i should be paid out in full so thats some thing. But i'm ******* gutted big style i cant go. All due to a few blood clots and a sloppy insurance company, who's medical staff dont really know their ***** from the elbows. Good Luck Maybe ringing other insurers before cancelling would have been better, as there are insurers out there who would have covered you, possibly on standard rates, at worst for an increased premium. The Insurance Company's response is not that surprising. Perhaps it would be better to cancel the holiday, claim all your costs on your insurance and wait until you are fully recovered, or on maintenance medicines, then book your next holiday. Hoping to have a spot on my ticket for my .223 pretty soon. So i may keep the money an keep it for that. Only just bought a new shotgun. Winchester SX3 camo. Only fired a handfull of rounds through her. My health just hasn't been that good these last couple of months. From breaking my leg in February to these blood clots. I just aint had the strength to go out an about. I needed that holiday for a rest you could say lol. But there's always next year. And we are looking at a shooting holiday down Cornwall or Somerset way in the summer. Been looking at a few sights where they cater for such holidays. It may not be Spain, but sat in a field with pigeons dying to get at my decoys. I think it'l work out a good 2nd best. All best.
