enzedder
Had a good morning the weekend before last. I had noticed pigeons trading past the office window & while checking out some gear for work found where they were feeding. There were 4 small pea stubble paddocks. The farmer later told me that he had lost half the crop to a hail storm so there were still plenty of peas lying around even though the crop had been harvested months before. Come Sunday morning it was blowing southerly with light drizzly rain. I was intending taking my 5 year old son with me but decided the conditions were too damp. The farmer didn't want me shooting before 9am so I set up the decoys and made use of a small pile of standard peastraw bales for a hide and watched the clock tick over to 9am while birds hovered over the dekes. The action was fast and furious for the next 1.5 hours before I had to pack up & head home to look after the boy. 101 ferals with 134 shots which was the best shot per kill ratio I've had for a while. Sorry but didn't take any photos in the field-it was getting a bit too wet.
