VULTURE
Hi My wifes Fausti 20g o/u will not fire the top barrel 90% of the time,is there anything i can check before i make the 50 mile round trip to return it to the shop. the primer is unmarked so the firing pin is not hitting, just a faint click is heard and sometimes it will fire with a third pull of the trigger,The gun has had less than 100 carts from new. Cheers Vulture
apache
Even IF you could do something, don't! If it's new get them to sort it. Better in the long run.

VULTURE
Hi gram Thought we had sussed it, it was worse today, I don't really know much about shotgun mechanics,i can strip and rebuild bike engines blindfolded but guns i,ll leave to the experts. Ah well Dereham on tuesday then. Vulture.
Beretta28g
Hi mate It sounds bad especially on a new gun, i would take it back under warranty, but if you do have a look inside dont make it obvious or it may invalidate the warranty. It could be a gummed up action or something has worn in and produced waste which oil has taken up and dried. The time sience the gun was last used may help detirmin the cause, e.g long period would allow the oil to dry more. The other thing is that either the sears or the push rods may have minute inpurities in the finish, which could stop it firing. Most important mesage is dont use it. Good luck with it. Bleeh
It might be a little further, but I'd really recommend skipping the greedy ******** at Churchills and going to either Norfolk Sporting in Wymondham, or the new lad on the block Phil Webster in Attlebourough. Beretta28g
I agre there are better gunsmiths than Churchills but would they still honour the warranty If they would Cooper sports at wodbastwic is by far the best.
Paddy Galore!
if you get on well with the guys at churchills then take it there, just insist that it's stripped and serviced while they're at it.
Beretta28g
Yeah well i dont, i ve had a bit of a ding dong with em at a country show where, i dont know why when looking at a sako they had he told me not to bother as i didnt have a FAC, BIG MISTAKE. But they may be good gunsmiths, it may just be a attitude problem.

wymberley
Hi, Get rid of it....... and then see if you can get the gun sorted!
Cosd
I don't know what it's called but I had a similar problem with mine. If you remove the forend, there is a strip of metal which protrudes about a cm at the bottom, when you break the gun this cocks the firing pins; Mine was loose (single screw inside the forend) and sometimes use to ride over the pins instead of pushing them. If this is the problem it isn't worth taking it back, you can sort it in a matter of seconds. Sorry about the terminology but hope this was clear, if not pm me and i'll give you my number so I can explain.

ATB Vulture at some point you might want to sell or P/X one of your guns, then you may find out. personally i hate being lied to and given a load of BS what's more they stand there and expect me to just swallow it without argument. Like i said before when i replied to beretta's post, if i want to go somewhere and be treated like an idiot then i go to churchills, if i want a good deal on a gun then i go to norfolk sporting or nelsons. What's more i used to work with bill the gunsmith who's now at north walsham, and we've seen some really shoddy guns come out of churchills that we've been kind enough to fix. JR1960
Always found the guys at Nelson Street gave a real good service. They repaired my boys 20 bore that churchills said had nothing wrong with it after i bought it from them. I think Silpig will remember it going off when it was closed on a couple of occassions as the firing pins didn't reset!
