SSS
Security of your guns is your problem. Give your FEO a ring and ask him. You will be allowed to use someone elses cabinet, as long as the fuzz know where your guns are. You dont have to enter other shotguns in the cabinet onto anyone elses SGC as said above, because you are allowed to borrow shotguns for 72 hours (as long as you have a ticket) so that wont be neccasary. Best advice i can give is call your licensing department or the enquiries officer and ask them
vampire
Feo said to me it was not a problem to have my guns stored other than my address as long as it is with home owners permission, locked in cabinet that only i had key to and the house security was ok,he said a lot of people do this
Devon Fox
Shouldnt be a problem -- All my firearms are stored at my parents house as i live in rented and it was simpler to keep them there for the time being.
timps
As others have said it should not be a problem, as per my signature my mate keeps his Lanber in my cabinet. He did get a letter from the chief constable making him aware that he did not have provision for the secure keeping of the shotgun whilst left unattended. He does not even have it on his license due to the 72 hour rule and the fact he would have to give it me back at the end of the day anyway. So he just has a certificate with no gun on it and rings me up when he needs it Edited June 14, 2010 by timps

Vince Green
If there are other guns at the other site which you can't have access to you could get a small second safe for your gun if the owner of the premises is agreeable so you have the keys for your safe only. inshallah
I was wondering the same thing, but what if the other location is in a different county? Which police force do you apply to for the SGC?
SSS
You apply for the certificate from the force of which ever county you LIVE in. It doesnt matter where the guns are kept or wh they are registered to, as long as they are on someones ticket, and you are abiding by the 72 hour rule

Your mum being anti guns could have an impact on getting your sgc fella- do the interview away from her Les

Will I still have to tell Leicestershire police about it? (I'm in Middlesex).
SSS
When you apply for the certificate, your FEO will talk to you about where you will be keeping your guns, he will tell other licensing departments and a differe3nt FEO will come and check the cabinet . inshallah
Your mum being anti guns could have an impact on getting your sgc fella- do the interview away from her Les Don't worry - she's not anti guns, and would be delighted if I start bringing her pigeons and rabbits. But at 76, I can't see her applying for her first SGC and installing a cabinet for herself
HDAV
Its not a big issue i know a few people who have certs but don't own guns. The SGC is not dependent on you having a cabinet, owning a gun legally is, shared cabinets, are a bit of faff but FEO will advise, a mate has 2 guns his step dad 3 they shared a cabinet with all 5 guns on both certs, he has now moved in with his GF (who has cert but no gun) he has installed a cabinet at her house (well i did it for him...) so now he has his 2 guns there and still has his step dads 3 on cert, when she buys a gun they will share the cabinet at her house, so both need to ahve access to the cabinet, but he also has access to his step dads, so does that mean she needs his and his stepdads on her cert??? We decided to elave it to the FEO's to sort out! In short send in application and discuss with FEO when interviewed, you can always store gun at RFD most charge £2 a week or similar so it takes over a year before it's equal to the cost of a decent cabinet. Gunny
But at 76, I can't see her applying for her first SGC and installing a cabinet for herself And why not when she has you to install it for her? And don't tell me she hasn't got time to fit in shooting, what with bungee jumping, sky diving and learning to fly? Yeaaahhh! for the oldies. Spend your kid's inheritance while you can enjoy it. Steve29
I store my mates shotgun for him as he's tight and hasn't got his own cabinet yet! Both our shotties are written onto both our tickets as our local service consider that they need to be as we both have access to the cabinet and therefore both shotguns. It's a mild pain in the backside when buying guns, but that's what we have to do to keep the boys in blue happy, so that's what we do!
