paulos
Get a routine and rhythm in place. A tip I was given a while ago (by a respected tarp shooter) was to say "Hello Clay" to yourself before pulling the trigger. This gives you just enough time to see where its going. Emmsy
i would start higher, so you just move across into the line of it if it was me. starting lower and your more likely to miss over the top as your chasing it more.

PhilR
In my opinion training should be little but often, but you have to make it a quality session, focussing on what you're trying to achieve so that it becomes second nature - it is no use practising bad habits by just blasting away. Best to use 3/4 choke in the bottom (1st barrel) and full in the top. From my experience DTL shooters do rush and a fast squad can be terrible to shoot on. In the international trap disciplines I shoot you have 10 seconds from the preceding shooter firing to call for your target. That is a long time, just check it out with your watch. Most experienced trap shooters take this time to carefully mount their gun and settle their eyes down in advance of calling for the target. Azzurri
I sometimes used to move the gun,as if guessing where the target would be. So i asked a friend,a top OT & UT International, for help/advice. He occasionally turned the microphones off during a round of UT to see what i did when i called for a target, and i sometimes moved the gun even though no target came . Obviously if the target's not there you can't shoot it. You must see the target out and only then can you react to it and kill it. There's no need to rush, and the smoother you are the quicker you will eventually be. I practiced what my friend told me and it helped me. Azzurri. Gareth0689
I shoot OTR and used to have the same problem, just keep practicing and working at it and you will get it. It worked for me anyway, I don't move the gun at all now if i get a broken target from the trap. Just keep concentrating on not moving until you have read the target and know for sure where it's going!
