Or what is left of it. He was raffleing the remains off for £10 a ticket on his website. How many other vechiles that are 30 years old can be driven hard and still survive? Fantastic machines. Guess the reality all boils down to whether you want the vehicle as a hobby in its own right or merely to drag you and your kit to mucky snaggly places where you want to persue your other hobbies like shooting, fishing, ferreting etc. I fall into the latter group so in the eyes of you "well ard" Landy masochists wil be seen as a right Willy Woofter :thumbs: :wacko: :wacko: I'd rather be trolling around in my old Fourtrak and use the extra space saved by not needing to carry a spare gearbox and transmission to put in a bit more shooting gear. Like to get home and put my feet up once the gears been sorted and the ferrets put away. Don't like getting my nails broken undoing all those nasty rusty bits under the car either, the rough ends get caught up in the ferret nets. One of my best ever thrills was to pull a Defender from 21/2 ft of Mud at Cirencester Park Off Trial in my V6 Vitara some years ago..... :wacko: Do you know what I never even had to boot it ( well Not too much anyway ) The guy who owns it hasnt spoken to me since :thumbs: FM. the last engineer Posted January 7, 2006 Report Share Posted January 7, 2006 I remember an old buddy of mine back home, he had a series 2 SWB landy, quite the motor when you look back, everytime he hit it (quite regularly ) we'd put it back together with aluminum plate and pop rivets , swear that thing was a couple of hundred lbs heavier when he sold it the other thing was when it changed gear (and this is for the older boys memorys ) it sounded like a triumph herald box clanging away on the plates. ill go with comfort and eficency nowadays it aint hard to get Martin Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
