poorpeet
Hi, Just got hold of some flocked decoys. The colouring lookd good except that the white neck and wing bars are more of a dull off white. These markings are much brighter on real birds so I was wondering if I should repaint them to make them stand out better? humperdingle
I painted the white highlight points on my F.U.D. decoys with some white UV paint. Not sure if the UV part of it makes any difference, but pigeons don't seem to mind walking amongst their folding cousins!
poorpeet
Cheers. Special paint then or just any bright white?
kyska
Cheers. Special paint then or just any bright white? I have also touched mine up, I just used my daughters white poster paint, made a terrific difference. You could try what my shooting bud did and used tip-ex and melted half of our full bodied deeks necks...****.
humperdingle
Cheers. Special paint then or just any bright white? Not sure the UV stuff has any effect. I tried shining a UV light on the deeks, and they weren't much brighter than the paint on a white freezer. Maybe pigeons see something different... I dunno. Cosd
Try Tippex, very bright and applies well.
kyska
Try Tippex, very bright and applies well. As I said above, test it before applying, it melted our deeks!
Cosd
As I said above, test it before applying, it melted our deeks! Sorry Kyska, I didn't read the whole post. Admittedly I have only tried Tippex on plastic decoys and not flocked.
kyska
No worries dude, it was the flock that melted! Sorry Kyska, I didn't read the whole post.Admittedly I have only tried Tippex on plastic decoys and not flocked.
bigt1754
I paint all my decoys, check the link below. been messing around with different types of paint/colours for ages. These work a treat for me and I'm very pleased with the results. They're the cheapest non flocked shell type. Shot over barley earlier this year, no magnet or bouncers, lost a few birds to the neighboring rape and wheat fields Cheers bigt
arjimlad
I used matt white ceiling paint to enhance the neck flashes & wing bars on my flocked decoys, and they brought the birds in very well last time I was out.
