sitsinhedges
Best to avoid confrontations when you have a gun these days. If I'm bothered I just ring the landowner and let them sort it out
Frenchieboy
In the case of the couple that were "at it" I would go for the camera - You never know, it might be a boss and his secretary and you could be on a little earner there! the running man
At night u can hide from poachers and shout out ure poaching on private property, the police are on their way, or something to that effect, but in the day ummm I dunno, take a picture on ure phone and say uve just emailed it to ure fao, usually a simple "if u **** off now,I won't say nothing" approach ought to work well. If its a civvy then put the gun away and just explain as nicely as poss the error of their ways. U can't do much more really.
snozzer
I always shout out, "Excuse me sir, are you lost?"
al4x
call the landowner and take their advice, many will report it and vehicles reported coursing round us 3 times have the vehicles seized. I've called a few in now and its always bloody dogmen, no permission running vehicles straight accross freshly drilled crops. Not usually worth interfeering other than to make sure they know you're watching and let the police do the rest. Most access onto our ground has been gated and ditched to keep them out fortunately so its getting rarer. Came as close as I ever have to shooting one of their dogs when it started on a muntjac while I was out foxing, fortunately it was close enough that some shouting and driving at it stopped it
kent
Report it to the landowner holder of the sporting rights, gather evidence, possibly make notes and observe (film it if you can). Always inform the police and get a crime reference number to ensure they actually record it. IF you want the police to turn out tell them you are going to tackle them yourself alone if they are not here quick and there is a serious risk of breach of the peace occuring if you do that alone. Poaching is a crime unfortunatly it is not always taken as seriously as it should be, so pushing for things like criminal damage, driving offences, offensive weapons etc. can all come into play. Above all stay safe and stay on the right side of the law and keep guns totally out of it
Highlander
First, always check with landowner to see if someone has legitimate reason to be there. Hopefully you ALWAYS call or text landowner to let them know when you'll be about. If the landowner has no knowledge then you should approach person and ask them what's on, not in an agressive way but politely and if they can't give satisfactory answers contact the police. BUT I have to say that in my experience they really don't want to know about poachers or armed trespass, most of them can't even spell it! Certainly don't do anything to jeopardise your licence.
